Billsteins and 16" wheels on the OR provide a much less jarring and more controllable ride (providing tire pressure is kept reasonable) at speed on the rough, rocky dirt and bad tarmac for an hour of my drive home. I use the diff lock and traction control about once a week, just getting around my land and friends' terrible driveways, but I'm stumped by the crawl gizmo. Haven't yet found where that is more useful than careful throttle and brake control. The videos of the truck digging itself out of deep sand are intriguing, but I try not to get that stuck.

Some else stated it's NOT bouncy. Obviously a matter of opinion. My OR is way too soft and squishy for my taste. The suspension is not stiff at all. I hate it. Way too much roll driving on winding roads at normal speed (not off-road). It's like driving my dads 1977 Lincoln Continental, yes that squishy! I can't wait to do a suspension upgrade. I can't comment on how it compares to a Sport, but the OR is anything but sporty in the suspension department.

Get what makes you happy, yes the off road is superior in every way to the mall crawler but if it floats your boat go for it. We won't judge!

    What a fun truck!
Everyone is all about the OR, but let's seem them do this without the 4x4 Sport!

I have owned 4x4 trucks since an International Scout I purchased new in 1978. Since I've owned an 1989 Isuzu Trooper, 1998 Ford Ranger, 2006 TRD 4x4 OR and have recently purchased a 2017 TRD 4x4 Sport with basically all the options. My 06 was to that point the best, most capable and reasonably comfortable. The '17 has rapidly become my new favorite despite the fact that i'm not a bro or a chick, though why those are used as pejoratives is beyond me. I live in an area with predominately paved but often poorly maintained or chip and tar roads in a very hilly and windy environment in SE Ohio. Sport has been awesome in this environment. It's very comfortable and stable on the highway. I recently drove to NE Cincinnati, a round trip of about 360 miles and averaged better than 24 mpg, most of the trip at about 68 mph and as high as 80. The best the OR got was a shade over 20. The Sport does have a more sporty suspension and takes the windy roads with considerably less body roll than the OR, but is still capable in 4wd. When I replace the tires when needed I will change to LT265 75 R17 for a more aggressive tread and 10 ply sidewalls.

For me, it was a priority to have the MT, AccessCab, LB, 4x4, and tow package. Only one option there. I'm actually thankful that the Pro doesn't come in that config. Nothing to regret. Ha!

I don't care one way other other about the hood other than I think the 2nd gen looks better? It is funny that it is easier to reverse in than pull into spots.

Otherwise if looking at DC automatics, it does seem to be splitting hairs? Also, my Sport has the E-locker. Was that added to the 2017s?

Mine's Barcelona Red Double Cab. Never been a fan of red but I love that red. I agree on the hood. Doesn't look like it would be a project to open up the scoop, either. Has anyone put a K & N Filter on. Had one on my last two pickups. Can't say I noticed any difference in performance or gas mileage.

Same here. I was looking for grey, blue, or quicksand and kept ignoring the BR one at a local dealer. They made a great offer, so I went to look at it and really liked it. Zero regrets coming up on three short weeks.

If you have a Sport you do not have the Locking Rear diff unless someone swapped in another rear and wired up the switch.

Thanks. I saw earlier posts about the E-locker. I wasn't sure if they were talking about a mechanical locker or the brake assisted one on mine.

I have a 2016 quicksand tacoma wanting to trade a non scooped hood for a scooped hood willing to drive and pay extra. My hood has clear plastic coat on front of hood which cost 250$ itself to protect it from chipped paint via rocks and bugs.hood

You can mod an OR to do anything a sport can do, but the opposite is not true.

I understand that rear (and front) lockers can be added aftermarket to TRD Sports if you want them. Wheels/tires/shocks too obviously. Other than crawl control, which doesn't apply to MTs, what else can't be added or changed?

Buy the OR with premium pkg. Then get a sport hood and you'll have the best of both worlds.

    A couple things
It's really not that complicated....If you drive more on road than off, the handling of the Sport is great, if you're into offroading, the features of the OR play to that.

I've never understood pissing on someone else's choices to justify your own...."stop liking what I don't like!"

some just need to make themselves feel better. The crazy part is, both the OR and Sport are freaking great rides, not to mention the rest of the Tacos.
