On the 2016 Tacoma Trd off road when purchasing brakes at a place like auto zone what would be the Toyota genuine part equivalent? Autozone has duralast Gold for 59.99 front brakes but do they last as long as Toyota brakes?

I went with EBC green stuff, because I heard a lot of good stuff about them.

Never again, yes braking was a little better but that brake dust after two days :annoyed: and only lasted about 12k miles. Good thing I saved the oem and just but those back on.

But will need some new ones in the near future, so I'd like to hear everyone else input.

I only suggest OEM, 90% of aftermarket that I see wears prematurely, unevenly or simply cracks.

I do like a few aftermarket brands but not many for the Toyota trucks.

Hawk http://www.hawkperformance.com/performance-street My only real suggestion for consumers. I've heard good about EBC but haven't experienced it first hand.

Also, on the new 2016 tacomas when looking for rear brakes is it just the drum or what? When tires was took off for rotation and balance I noticed two front brake pads and none in back

I went aftermarket pads once. I will never go back to aftermarket. OEM isn't expensive.

53k miles on mine. The OEMs are still 70%....
On my family's 4Runners we were changing out Rotors and Pads every 50K miles (2 years) also because I had lifetime warranty on all the rotors/pads/drums. I finally settled with Bosch rotors and drums from O'Reilly with Brake Best select (not too bad). They have held up the best compared to any other brand. We drive all of our vehicles around 70k miles in total/year(3 cars, my taco and 2 4Runners)...
Other than a faint brush sound when braking no other complaints, no excessive brake dust, cracking pads/rotors/shoes/drums, warping, brake fade, uneven wear. I do my brakes myself.

In the year 2017 asking for rear disk brakes is silly...way too advanced for consumers
