    2006 TRD 6MT - Stock
    Hi

I have a stock 2006 TRD with about 200,000 miles. I've been listening to intermittent (assumed) throwout bearing noise for years but the clutch has always been good. Pretty stiff, but it's always been like that and Toyota said it was normal.

I came out from work and started it up as usual then took my foot off the clutch and didn't go anywhere. The clutch pedal was still on the floor. I was able to get my foot under it and push it up which made the clutch engage as normal....kinda. So I drove it home. Seems that the problem is something like a spring that won't push or pull the pedal back up, but only if you push the pedal all the way down. If you only push it 2/3 of the way down it pretty much feels normal but anything past that feels mushy and won't return. Fluid is good. No leaks that I could see. I rigged the pedal up with a piece of boot lace so I can push the pedal all the way down then pull on the lace to get it back on it's way up to the engaged position. Works great but it will take a little getting used to operating a quarter of the clutch operation by string:-/

Bad timing with the holiday and all. I'm not a mechanic but not helpless. I can find my way around. Any suggestions appreciated!

    thank you!

I agree with those above. You have a hydraulic clutch so the pressure from the pedal is transferred to the clutch via pressurized brake fluid to a cylinder that changes that back to motion.

200k? You might want to consider budgeting time and money for a clutch replacement too. Mine failed just before 100k spectacularly.
I could no longer engage the clutch (torque is always on the motor). Some of the finger levers broke on my pressure plate, so no matter what the T.O.B couldn't engage it.
