This has happened 3 times, but this morning was the scariest as I was going about 80 on my way into work. I couldn't get the best angle pics, but hoping someone can offer some advice on how to fix this?

I will be turning towards the left, usually slowing into a turn and I'll hear a loud rubbing sound from the front and feel some pretty intense vibrations. Took pics of the driver side for comparison, but the passenger side is pretty torn up. It's weird too cause the slits almost look like they are cut that way, but I think the tire just rubbed them symmetrically haha.

Anyway, any advice would be much appreciated :)

Is the plastic flapping in the wind at that speed, pushing it closer to the tire? It doesn't look like its attached at all....but could be the pic.

What your pointing at in your pics looks easily trimmable/removable to me. Cut it off. It would be worse if you were rubbing your pinch weld like most of us do with larger tires, that requires an angle grinder and a BFH

Undo the two bolts on the front bottom (10mm) and undo the plastic clip. You can then shove the fender liner forward and zip tie it out of the way, while still having protection. This is exactly what I did.

I honestly have no idea the tire size or wheel size, I just bought the truck a couple of months ago and am slightly annoyed at how many issues it's already had...

I put on a Leer 100XR shell and put a few things in the bed...leaf springs were completely flat  whoever owned the truck before me installed suspension air bags which have helped for now as I can't really afford to replace the springs at the moment. But lame that the stock springs are already in such poor condition. It's a 2014 DCLB by the way. There was also a weird popping sound coming from the front left side too that apparently was missing some kind of belt but they claim that is fixed. One guy quoted me $1200 for a new lower control arm...but took it somewhere else for a second opinion and they said it is fine. Just been hearing a lot of conflicting information ever since I took it to the first mechanic.

Anyway, back to the rubbing issue. I appreciate the prompt replies. I will definitely try to just push it up out of the way for now. But scary when it almost makes you hit the semi in the lane next to you... o.0

Took a quick look and there are definitely 2 bolts missing already. I will try to just push it up after work and see if that fixes the problem for now. Love the truck and can't wait to start getting it all dialed (some serious inspiration on this site) but annoyed at all of the little things I've had to deal with already.

Was reading a post earlier about the A/C compressor and now I'm worried about that cause a week ago I was sitting idle in a parking lot for about 5 minutes and the A/C started blowing warm air and the light started flashing as well. It was about 90 degrees outside but didn't think that would be a huge deal. I figured a 2014 toyota would be in better condition no matter how hard it was used haha.

Thanks again though guys! Much appreciated.

Those slits that your touching with your finger are supposed to be there. they are for the air intake that is between the inner and outer fender on that side.

where it looks like it is rubbing is the long vertical gash to the left of your finger

Oh okay, that definitely makes sense. What threw me off initially is that they weren't on the driver's side as well.

Oh. Leaf springs on Tacomas always sag over time with weight on them. Best to upgrade them to an aftermarket set. Very common problem.

And LOL @ whomever told you to buy new lower control arms.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. The thing that started all of this was I could hear a weird sound coming from the front and when I took it in the guy said it was because my tires were cupping. Got them aligned but that is when I got the $1200 LCA quote, he said I could rotate and the rear would even them out, but that they would just start cupping in the front again. After some 2nd and 3rd opinions, I was told to just keep them rotated regularly and not worry about the cupping. They said the noise was also due to it being a beefier tire. After a little research and advice, and based on what I use the truck for, it sounds like my next set will be BFG KO2's. I just want them to be good in the snow. Don't really go in the dirt all that much so the current tires are kind of overkill. They look pretty badass though haha.

I know the truck has great potential, but I almost wish I had just bought it new and started from scratch.

Watch tire pressures. That impacts tire wear every bit as much as alignment issues if pressure is way off.

LCA as I understand shouldn't be needed unless they are broken or preventing a proper alignment. Without a really custom off-road suspension setup the factory LCA should be fine.

Any idea if your truck has modified suspension parts? Lift? Spacers?

As far as I know, just the suspension airbags in the rear. I am really not sure about anything else. Tire pressure was good, but the truck does feel kind of "loose" in general when driving at higher speeds. Like if it's windy out, I feel it gets pushed around more than it should. Not sure if I'm just noticing it more now cause I'm paying attention, or if something has changed since I bought the truck.

I guess I just need to take it in again and see what they think :/

If the sound of what you think is your tires rubbing makes you almost swerve into a semi, you're doing it wrong.

As a general rule, cut off anything that rubs - but make sure it actually rubs first. The noise you're describing could be any number of things. From the pics, it looks like part of your wheel well liner is not attached. Make sure everything is properly attached. Then look for fresh rub marks any time you hear rubbing. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE MAN, NEVER SWERVE UNLESS ITS TO AVOID IMMINENT COLLISION WITH A HUMAN OR SOMETHING LARGER THAN YOUR TRUCK! Dogs, deer, etc... all get whacked - it's safer that way.
