What do you guys do in bear country with food?
I have a arb in a shell, and usually keep my cook partner in the bed after I'm done cooking. Should I be worried about bears coming after my setup if I lock it in the shell.
    Thanks in advance

Shit no man, you're good. If it's in the topper it'll be just fine.

You might get some nose prints on your tailgate if you're not around to scare them off. :D

Not familiar with CO bears. Maybe they are a lazy. A CA bear will rip your shell off in a second if there is an empty Doritos bag back there.

But it really is locality dependent. "Camp bears" acclimatized to vehicles and people will pop the door or roof off just for fun. Wild bears will probably not bother at all. Go with what rangers or locals recommend in the area you are camping.

In Alaska we just make sure we have the food inside of an air tight container or backpack and then inside the vehicle cab or like you have a camper shell in the back is fine. Don't leave any trash around your camp site.

Do your best to keep everything as air tight as you can, then make sure nothing is left outside. Even dish water or brushing teeth water should go down wind from camp. Then all you can do is hope cause if a bear wants in...it will get in but with some basic precautions you should be fine.

f you want to go hardcore id love to see an arb fridge 20 feet in the air HAHA

I hope that you know that the pepper based bear sprays just make you more tasty to the bears

Colorado black bears are pretty skittish and avoid people in my experience - never had a run-in with a "camp bear" there.

As others said, air-tight containers for your food is the best prevention.

We're headed to WY in a few weeks into brown bear country. The campsite we are staying it has bear boxes for food storage. We'll be storing all our food in coolers (dry goods included) then straight into the bear box when done.
