Aftermarket Kenwood deck installed a while ago and everything was working fine up until yesterday when some of my speakers were not working.. so i pulled the deck out and found some loose wires. I proceeded to re do all the connections to the wires so that this wouldnt happen again. After I put the deck back in and turned the truck on the dash lights would not work when i turned my headlights on. I took everything back apart and made sure that my dimmer wire was connected properly.. It was connected (orange and white to the orange and black ?) anyways .. i tryed connecting the wire to a few different loose wires that i thought it might be but nothing seemed to work properly.. im at a loss..

You probably shorted the dimmer switch
I've seen 6-7 trucks have that problem after installing a new radio
Unplug the dimmer switch and see if they turn back on (partially)

    Have you checked your fuses?

The fuses seem to be fine. Would the dimmer switch be shorted out if they still work with the running lights or ?

The dash lights only cut out once i flick on my headlights .. anyways i will unplug my dimmer switch and see what happens?

Have you had any luck fixing this? I had the same problem after installing a new radio. The a/c lights work and the dimmer switch will adjust those but I have no light in my dash. I found what looked like a burned terminal at the a/c light cluster but didn't find any blown fuses.

I did a temporary fix with mini led lights from the cigarette lighter to behind the dash and back through the steering column but I am looking for a more permanent fix now too.
