I'm assuming you removed back bar from bed then clamped the 3 pieces together and used existing holes in back bar as a guide to drill through both shim bar and sport track bar, then replaced with longer screws in existing holes?

Any ideas on how to mount a winch onto the CCR rail? Can side rail attachments mount on this?

I don't think the bed itself is strong enough to support a winch. I definitely wouldn't go that route (It's plastic, and even if it were steel it'd tweak under load. As for the bolts, I like your choice, They should work fine. - Remember, you need to put a piece of flat-stock behind the rail so it sits right.

 

I used a homemade winch mount in the bed of a 1st gen Tacoma. It was fine, although that bed is metal. A dirt bike or small motorcycle on a ramp really isn't that much weight.

 

Oh I see, you use it to help pull the bike into the truck. I guess that would work. I'm sure you could then just make something that attaches via those same bolts that hold the winch too. Sounds like MacGyver time to me.

Thanks but I’ve read this is really cheap, some members have collapsed the metal. This may be good for mountain bikes, but for dirtbikes, I’m not so sure.

 

That's not even possible. If someone has collapsed this it's because they're RETARDED. I'm confident the bed itself would fail before anything on this unit itself would fail. I'd love to converse directly with someone that had an issue with this (seriously). I've hauled multiple dirt bikes, my 1190R and my Aprilia 1000. There's no way in the world someone could break this unit - I promise you that. BTW, I am in no way affiliated with the manufacturer etc.

Since this thread was bumped. So glad I bought this before Jesse stopped making them. 4 years later it’s still in great shape and I’ve used it hundreds of times to tie down motorcycles and bicycles. Wish I had welding skills, I would make some and sell them.

 

BTW, went riding the other day and the guy in front of me had the tiedown bar shown in post #155 and it enabled his front wheel to turn just enough so - you guessed it - the bike fell over. I really like the definitive chock of the CCR product (post #157). I've had mine going on 3 years now and no issues. Plus it looks factory and is unencumbering.

You can’t be serious. There is no question the original tie down bar is far superior quality to the CCR product you keep pushing. I know the OP is no longer around to defend it and its obvious you have a connection to the CCR. There is 0% chance the bike fell down due to the tie down bar. I’ve trasnported dirt bikes, mountain bikes, street bikes and never once had any issues.

Here is a clear picture showing your full of it blaming the tie down bar for the bike falling over. If in fact a bike even fell down it was not due to the OPs tie down bar design. It would be due to user error.
