Good Day! Welcome!! It may be interesting to us in North America what kind of off roading (four wheel driving) you have in that part of Africa. The only thing most of us have seen of your country's off road driving is the Land Rover in 'The Gods Must Be Crazy' (a classic comedy out of South Africa from the 1980s, for the younger people who may not know of it).

Hi David. Yea that is a classic one. Most of the time we go on 2 week trips to the Okavango , Chobi and moremi game parks. This involve loads of mud , sand and some water crossings.
Then here in Francistown we have the Northern 4x4 club were we have proper tracks to keep it interesting. We have 2 classes , extreme and std. There you can appreciate the well build Surfs in the capability they have. Then we have river run's as most of the rivers are dry and spend 2 days in the river. Every year we change the tracks to keep it interesting. Me and the wife compete and its loads of fun. Last year my tiers were not up to standard so loads of spinning happened. Dec last year I fitted 5 M/T tiers so this year it should be easier.

Great photos Riaan! I am not familiar at all with the 'Hilux Surf'...??
We know of (and see in Mexico) the Hilux truck. In the U.S. and Canada, we only have the Tacoma trucks and no diesel motors from Toyota.

The Tacoma is also sold in Mexico, as well as being made there (Toyota de Baja California, near Tijuana, just across the border from San Diego, California).

We are aware of some models sold in Australia, such as the Prado... which we do not have, by that name. The same body (Prado) is sold as a Lexus GX (a luxury SUV: http://www.lexus.com/models/GX/ ), here. We have the '4Runner' instead. I am guessing you (and South Africa) may share the same models as they have in Australia? Just a guess, mind you!

    Carry on!

    yep..
    Welcome!

I went to Botswana when I was very young. My mother's side is from Pretoria and we would spend the summers there and Mozambique.

    Nice rigs.

Would love to teleport mine over there!

    Hi All.

Thanks for the warm welcome. That's right the Surf is the upgraded 4 Runner. The 3RZ motor is a 4 Cyl 2.7 petrol engine. I am currently overhauling my Black surf as I got a slight knock
    so out comes the engine.

    Doogz

Were originally from Gauteng South Africa and for the past 5 Years now in Botswana. It's amazing here with all the wild game here. In the dry season we even see elephants in town
as they are looking for water.
