I have a BakFlip G2 and it works well, nice and flush with the bed rails. But I've heard with the Bakflip MX4, you don't have to close the tailgate first before you close it.

Just purchased the Bakflip G2 but haven't installed yet. Got a good price on it so I had to go ahead and pull the trigger.

Extang Solid Fold 2.0 here. I had one on my '11 Tundra for six tears and was very satisfied with it, the cover was still in excellent condition despite sitting outdoors for those years, no garage here, and lived through extreme weather conditions, from sub-zero cold to 100+ heat and everything in between. The new owner of the Tundra will get years of additional good service out of it. That was my reason for getting one for the Tacoma, and hopefully it'll serve me just as well as the other one did.

    Hence the MX4 recommendation :)

I love my Truxedo LoPro, kind of surprised no mention of it in this thread.

That's why I started it, to see if I was missing one. Will look into it, thanks!

I went with the Bax Revolver X2. It's a hybrid design that's a vinyl topper over aluminum slats. What I liked about it is that I can roll it up and fix it in place to carry cargo that's too tall for the bed. While at the same time it's more secure than a soft cover since the it can't be sliced open with a knife.

BackFlip all the way. Got my BackFlip VP about 2 years ago. Uses the bed rail system, folds up or down in less then 20 seconds and still looks brand new.
(sorry for the bad pic. it was just one on my phone)

I also purchased the Fold-a-cover G4 Elite, Had it for 8 months, solid build, can stand on it, seals are pretty good, no leakage yet. I like the idea that you can access both the front part of the bed and back. The only dislike is having a key to lock the panels but maybe thats asking for too much. I got it during black friday for 740, i think. good luck with the decision.

Thanks everyone for all the feedback. I got what I believe is a good price for the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 from Realtruck.com (Bought my running boards from them). I will post some pictures when it arrives.

    Considerations when choosing.
    • Wanted a hard folding top.
    • The Extang can support 400lbs, not sure if I ever need that, but I buy into that means it could be more sturdy.
    • Price was cheaper than the Bakflip.
    • Uses factory rail system without relocating.
    • Can close the tailgate with cover closed.
    Thanks,

    Ryan
