Clean VHF/CB radio installs

Yeah haha, my cb power and ground is straight to the battery and my coax isn't coiled because perfect length. With antenna grounded on frame not much that would mess with it

 

Since my cb works so well now and I have a cobra 29 lx le now I figure I might as well go all out with my pa and maybe a little external speaker

 

Yeah I put the external speaker velcro ed to the carpet under driver seat. Also have a cable running to the aux input in the truck. So when I'm wheeling I'll have the aux input on so I can hear out of the speakers in the truck.

I don't think coax would give that much feedback, I have a cb though I'm not as well versed in HAM

 

Well I am also changing radios. Just bought a Midland 1001LWX so that I can hook up directly to the battery as opposed to this handheld Midland, which plugs into cigarette lighter plug

 

What's your antenna setup and how is it run? Placement? I'm not sure if ham has swr like cb but I assume it does, how's that?

 

Swr at high levels can give feedback like that. Having that much feedback is similar to having squelch too low on cb

 

It's a firestik 3 foot with 18 foot fire ring coax. mounted no a rago fab ditch light bracket.

 

it has a 16g ground wire connected to the frame. I had originally grinded the mount down and grounded one of the bolts, but rust popped up really quick and was dripping residue on my hood, so I took everything apart, repainted, and stuck the wire between the bushing and the mount. Took a multimeter and connectivity was good throughout the setup

 

Is that a no ground plane antenna?

 

Man directly on the stud is dangerous, I was at a cb shop the other day and had mine there and the guy told me to move it because it can cause a short. Does ham have squelch like cb?

Yeah, getting pics now. Also my SWR readings are 1.9:1 on both channel 40 and channel 1, and the SWR at Channel 20 is 1:1
