The possible upgrade is a clean, well maintened 2008 4runner SR5 4WD with 81k miles. Stock no mods.

My truck is an extra clean, solid frame, well maintened 2004 Tacoma DoubleCab 4x4 TRD Off-road with 120k miles. Stock only mod is wheels.

Vehicle use consists of daily with camping, fishing and hunting trips in between.

So is the 4runner an upgrade from my Tacoma or not? Thanks

I would think so. I'd have one if the wife didn't hate SUV's. Claims she can't see out of them. I'm thinking, no, you just need to use mirrors.

Depends do you need to haul stuff in the truck??

    I am biased I have a 4Runner and a Tacoma

The Tacoma gets used to haul most times it gets used it has 1000 pounds of payload.

The 4Runner goes to the Grocery store and to the Toyota dealer on parts runs

The 4runner is a V6 with towing and my truck is a V6 without towing.

In the truck bed I haul camping equipment, fishing rods and maybe a dead turkey/quail during the season. Usually in an ice chest though. I've always had trucks but do like the comfort of the 4runner. Wonder if I'll miss a truck

    OME and worth every penny.
have you ever went camping, fishing or hunting and thought "Man, I need more space inside!"? If not....keep what you have. the miles difference is irrelevant. Age diff.? Same. Size? It's bigger...do you like that?

Simple matter to add a receiver Hitch to the Tacoma .

The real question How much more money is it going to cost ??

Maybe you come out ahead selling the Tacoma for more then the 4Runner .

Then it never fails some areas of maintenance are always neglected

Only you can know if it is a upgrade given the choice I myself would keep my truck.

I say keep the truck. No cost to you or Hassel of selling and you have bed to keep mess out of cab when putting dead stuff and the like in the back

I have a o4 sequioa. Love it, family hauler trailer tower. But now that the kids are getting older and moving on. We're thinking might down size to a 4runner. Almost bought one, ended up with my taco instead.

Will it be an upgrade? Yes - it's a newer and nicer vehicle. Should you get it? It mostly depends on if you need the truck bed or not.

    4Runner:
    -newer
    -more spacious inside
    -softer suspension
    -more interior amenities/features
-more storage space (bigger glovebox/center console/cupholders/etc.)
    -better lighting (inside and out)
