Cheaper than ~$30? Looks like I need about 4 yards of fabric and the rest I can recycle from old gear.

This thread is awesome! Just got my sewing machine back out, and had never even considered making anything for my Tacoma.

I wish I had some pictures to post, maybe I'll take some this weekend. I got really into making ultralight backpacking gear a couple years ago and made the following:
-Ultralight synthetic insulated vest (two because I wasn't satisfied with the quality of the first).
-Ultralight synthetic quilt: 2.5 oz and 5 oz apex lined and modeled after the MLD spirit quilt. Used the 5 oz one for a couple weeks on the AT in Maine and was pretty satisfied with it.
-Ultralight bivy: half nano-no-see-um and half rip-stop.
    -Lots of stuff sacks.

I just went through all the pages here and this is some quality stuff!

Did I take that too literal? It will pitch, not sure I could sleep at an angle that steep though. Hell, staying on the sleeping pad would be an adventure enough.

    I'm mostly a literal person.
You just need a self leveling cot.

I'm glad that you are enjoying your new home base, seems like a nice place to be.

Finished the hammock today. Spent around an hour yesterday and an hour today. So ~2-2.5 to complete my first one.

Cost was $22 for fabric. I had the thread already and I bought 2 whoopie slings for $14 to hang it. You could go cheaper if you make your own. You can also hang a hammock for next to nothing if you wanted, I just liked the adjustability of the whoopie sling.

I am trying to find some webbing to make a tree save but that might wait for another day. I want to give her a try today and make sure it can hold my weight.

Her she is. I have some other photos on my camera from today when I took the pup to the forest. I'll work on those in a few. Held up great, the material is perfect, not as comfortable as I remember my Hennessy hammock being but I can't complain.

Nice! Good looking stitching. What material did you go with?

@Garfish307 needs to be in here from what I've seen so far of his homemade RTT.

Good to see people making their own. I only found a few diy rtts and they were less than stellar .

Hello... following... so far all is well with the DIY roof rack and tent but it has been a huge project and a big learning curve. Got main tent section secured to base and it fits well. Next is to finish the shell rack, build tent extension, travel cover, secure ladder, and rig up AC.

I have been a bit busy but plan to document the build in better detail. Since this is a sewing thread... here are my machines

Looks great! How long have you been sewing? Or was this your first project?

I made a turtle dog stand to hang my hammock outside my place. I'll be starting on the underquilt soon and now I won't have to goto a park or the mountains to test it out.
