I had my Best Buy purchased tv delivered to me. Only difference from shipping is it was an actual Best Buy truck, and they carried it into my home. Totally free, so check it out.

I have a chance to buy one of two Samsung 8 series 65" TV, one is the flat 8000 model, one is the curved 8500 model. Both are the same price.

With all things being equal, is the curve worth it? Samsung is not even offering the curved option on its upcoming flagship 9 series due next year.

The way my living room is set up, I'm usually on one side of the couch or the other, not dead center. Viewing distance would be around 6-8 feet, with the TV wall mounted.

60' vizio m series HDR @ roughly 9 ft. So much nicer than my vizio 48' 1080p.
Don't let the size intimidate you.
Very happy with the "M" series.

I recently moved, and now I'm viewing my 65" from about 8' away. It took some adjusting at first, but now it seems totally normal.

So i finally bought a tv, went with a sony 900 series at 65". My viewing distance is 7 - 10'. The tv looks great, but still contemplating bringing back for a 55, its a little large. About 50% of wanting to go to 55 is stepping up to the 930 for an even better engine.

What about everyones input on moving down to 55" at 7-10'. Please no input on 900 vs 930 series, size only.

    Thanks again

I have a 65 and when my viewing distance shortened, I was like "holy shit this is gigantic". After a week or two of using it, it's hard to imagine it any smaller. It works perfectly. Before I was around 15' and now I'm around 7'-8'

I dont see nothing wrong going with a 55" first. I have (2) 55",Sony in my living room viewing @ 4-10'and LG in my basement viewing @ 6-10', my living room is an open area so it shares kitchen/dining/living/breakfast nook all in one so the tv is viewable at different areas. yeah I could have gone bigger but 55" imo is a fair size and at 7-10' it is still viewable unless you have site problems. It all depends on you and also how big your viewing area is. I just recently purchased Samsung 65MU8000 @ bestbuy and put it in my basement. It is huge and I sit at least 6ft away. I may relocate this in my living area and move my 55 sony down in the basement. The LG 55" is now in a spare bedroom for gaming purposes.

    good luck with your decision.

I measured it when I first moved in, and it's right around there, but I can't remember. It's definitely not more than 8', I know that. That may even be a little generous.

OK bumpity bump bump. I AM BACK!

long story short, my top of the line Samsung i bought back in 2017 started developing lines just outside its warranty, like 2 months. Samsung would at least pay for the panel if i paid for labor. Problem was it was right at beginning of pandemic and hooking up with repair guy was awful. So, it never got done and ive been living with the lines since.

So i am once again back in the market for a TV. My viewing distance has slightly changed and am again wondering 55 or 65. FWIW i ended up with a 55 and can say i was overall happy with size, but you do get used to it and am wondering to take the jump to 65. I guess part of my reasoning is i am having to buy a tv again so soon, so lets hope the next one i get lasts and is future proof in size.

I am now sitting 9-11'. Some updated real world viewing distance would be great. TV size and distance please! Are you happy, did it take getting used to? I have stared at them in showrooms, but my worry is in long viewing would the 65 cause eye fatigue at 9-11'

I'd agree with that, I think that's too close for a 65. I'm at 14' from my eyeballs to the tv screen and I couldn't imagine being much closer.
