Hi guys. I finally got the time to fix my P0446 emission code on my 02 2.7 sr5. What is the word on aftermarket charcoal canisters? Not sure if If its better to buy a good used OEM, or if the only way to go is new OEM with this part. I hope the gas tank is good on top, my bed floor rotted right above the tank. Odd it only rotted in a 8"x20" section at the wheel well above the tank.

Do you have the under the bed charcoal canister of the under the hood canister?

I have a good under the hood version.

Try to determine what killed the canister also. Was the tank overflow broken, dumping fuel fumes to the underside of the bed and flooding the canister?

    Pretty much stock right now
I went OEM. I needed the MIL out ASAP to pass NYS inspection, and I didn't want to chance an unknown unit. They may be fine. Someone may add their aftermarket experience here.

And some times the canister is fine, some ancillary part has gone bad like torn rubber that can be siliconed or maybe even just a blockage. (dirt dauber wasps love holes under a vehicle) For the most part I bet many Toyo. cans themselves interchange. I doubt they engineered a part to do the same job in the same way that isn't essential to running the engine for every different model. Remember these things only work a few minutes every tankful.

Thanks guys.Think I'm going to tip the bed up to get to it. I hate to put it back together and wait for the part. So I guess I was going to take a shot in he dark and buy the canister. My truck is rusty, so everything sucks to disassemble.

you can make a cheap smoke machine (youToobe) hit the VSVs with a 9 volt battery and really find what's going on.
I put my Sienna in the shop for this and smoke showed the problem in 5 minutes. Guy even told me the homemade version works fine, he's just able to turn on/off valves easier with his scanner.
