So from searching the forum it seems like the annoying as hell vacuum pressure release sound from my brake pedal is "normal" and was present in 2nd gen TRD OR models too.

Can't believe they didn't get enough complaints to fix that, but regardless has anyone figured out a way to muffle this sound? It drives me crazy. Given that pandora only works about half the time through the entune app I end up driving around in silence more often than I'd like.

Figured I'd ask before I start trying to design something.

Are you referring to the "squish" sound when you step on the brakes? I get that as well as the periodic pedal vibration that is ever do slight like the abs is clicking

i was wondering this as well. t me it sounds like air being released from a rubber boot or grommet around the plunger going through the firewall

Yep, that is the sound. I had hoped it would go away after a break in period but I'm about to hit 20k so safe to say she's broken in

Mine has done it since day one. 2012 Baja by the way. I have had it at several different dealers and they all say it's normal. My old 99 had silent brakes, even with 600k miles. Shit drives me bonkers sometimes but I usually have the radio on. At least my kazoo noise got fixed.

Thanks for the helpful replies. A $40k truck shouldnt sound like a golf cart when i hit the brakes. I've owned a dozen vehicles in my life and this is the only one with an obnoxiously loud vacuum sound when applying the brakes. If it doesn't bother you great, good for you. Move along. If it does and you have something useful or helpful to say then i welcome it.

Please take this logic elsewhere. It is not welcome in the 3rd Gen section.

Sorry for the wise guy comments, but if it is loud, then I would definitely take it back to the dealer, maybe more of an underlying issue?, they should be able to figure it out..

Mine has done it since day 1 as well, Im at 20k now. I used to notice it all the time, thankfully now, even though it still does it, I hardly ever notice it.

Only abnormal sound I've observed in my OR is the "brrrrrp" sound of the accumulator pump kicking on. You can feel it in the pedal too. But that's normal of course

Every vehicle I've ever owned makes the "woosh" sound. Possibly a little more pronounced on this truck but I never even thought twice about it.

Since there's no vacuum assist in the 3rd gen OR's, you're likely just hearing fluid through the master cylinder
