I've heard that taking apart the strut assembly too many times (to adjust shocks or replace coils) can lead to the nut on the top of the strut mount to fail/not be able to tighten down enough.
Is this true? And what do I need to know if I take apart the strut assembly a couple times.

Why I ask is because at first I had my 5100's adjusted to level my truck but after a while I didn't like how it rode so I decided to turn the 5100's back to 0 and run 887 coils to do the lifting instead of the shock.
If I were to ever disassemble the strut again for whatever reason, should I get a new nut or what?

Don't think you need to get a new nut, just don't keep messing with them

If it's a nylock nut it wouldn't hurt to replace it. I can't remember if they are atm.

Not much yet, but do have Flowmaster exhaust, with Rockford Fosgate P600.1Bd 600 RMS Mono amp for my 12" P3 with custom box and a Punch P400-4 Four Channel amp for my mids and highs running 100 watts per channel and have two speakers on each channel, not to mention 6 more hooked to the 4 channels from the headunit as well....Hopefully soon will be a body lift with new tires, and eventually the actual suspension...
why do you say not to play with your nuts? I was cruising the other day and heard some noise, and I swear it felt like my suspension was loose or steering or something...i've never messed with my nuts but it seemed like they were maybe loose so I just wanted to test it. I give em a twist to see if they tighten but they just spun the whole shock or something or maybe juts the casing, i don't really know. I just stopped after that and went about my drive like normal. Still feels low, but everyone says i'm trippin....i never thought my calipers were that close to the bottom of the wheel but everyone said, yep, just the way it is. oh well.

    No.

As someone mentioned, if it's a nylock, could be worth the change. If it's a lock washer or a lock nut style, it's fine.

If you want to feel good about it, put a couple drops of locktite blue on it.
