Poly cotton drill they where water and stain resistant for my grand daughter. 3 months 6,000 so far so good

 

Also seems like the steering wheel radio controls should be on the side of the radio and the dash controls should be on the left. Is backwards from what I have seen but I am used to it now.

 

So you did some on-lot shopping, test drives of various models, and saw all this stuff, right?

If you knew about it before laying down your $, does it still get to count as a dislike?

 

It's just what I dislike when compared to my 2011- But I do not have any buyers remorse. Just some things I wish they would not have changed or they would offer. I would like to know the reasoning behind the center console brake? Maybe someone on here knows why they changed it.

 

I have no clue 'why' from Toyotas view point. Other than it's likely a few bucks less expensive.

It seems to me to be much simpler mechanism and it clears out a touch of space in the dash area for more electronic gizmos or servicing of same.

A hand brake version can also be used to help control the vehicle much easier than the foot version, as it can be engaged/released much quicker. That being 'emergency brake' as opposed to 'parking brake'.

 

I like the ebrake! I used every time I put it in in park so my hand is right there anyways.

 

I agree. EBrake at the hand is better than at the foot.

Power is better? Huh? Maybe your 2011 needed a tune up. Or you just drive with the pedal to the floor everywhere you go?

 

I had 2 gen II's one 6 speed and one Auto, the 6 speed had more power just because of standard- the auto no. This truck has as much power as the auto if not more. Yes it does shift more but it's a six speed. And no it didn't need a tune up.

 

It was the same motor? Please explain the "power" difference between the manual and the auto that you experienced.

 

Same problem here, actually just got a survey from Toyota Friday & I told them the same thing

 

Why can't the power be fine for some? Why must something be wrong with others vehicles when the like them?

 

The ebrake is in the handle configuration because the vehicle is offered as a manual and a significant portion are purchased this way. As far as vehicle capabilities go it's a far more useful "tool" for various driving conditions for modulating rear braking. Toyota likely didn't want to invest in two different brake styles between the auto and 6spd. Most manufacturers don't. I view this feature as a positive, not a negative. Additionally a handle ebrake tends to be in sportier cars, and the Tacoma's marketing strategy has placed it in a more sporty category than its traditional competitors. Pretty simple

 

Don't even bother. 3rd Gen has more power (both on paper and for many of us that have compared the gens personally). Some people on here are just always trying to push an agenda.

 

All of my toyota trucks had the E-Brake handle on the dash below the steering column, I occasionally punch the dash in my 17 grabbing for that handle that isn't there anymore.

 

Outside of Toyota, who puts an emergency brake handle on the dash? The emergency brake in the center is where every manual (and most auto cars) I have owned is located. Makes it easy to use the ebrake on steep hills in traffic with a manual transmission.
