Washington State Parks - Possible Closure - 2017

"Washington’s lawmakers have reached a tentative agreement on a 2017-19 state operating budget, according the office of Gov. Jay Inslee. The deal should allow Washington to avoid a state government shutdown."

Why is this important? Well, if you're like me and have reservations at any state park in early July 2017, those would have been shut down and your money refunded. But, as it looks, my plans should still stand!

Anyhow, I thought I would pass this along in case any of you were thinking of heading to the coastal parks for the 4th of July.

Edited the title so as not to construe this as a political rant. Anyone who has reservations for camping at a state park in Washington state can potentially lose their reservation unless the budget gets approved by June 30. Before you drive three hours to your campsite, check the status - call the park or check the news. They will be closed if this doesn't happen.

 

I'd still go anyways, it's public land, I shouldn't need a reservation to begin with, my GD tax dollars pay for the shit one way or the other and WA has too many taxes as it is. Only getting worse. I don't need a park ranger to let me in.

 

Turned out the parks were open despite the budget issue not being fully sorted out.
