Just bought a Vacation house walking distance to the ocean. Is my Tacoma going to rust in half?

I live 10min from the beach and have had my truck for 4 months. There's some rust. But when you live next to the salt or live up north and drive on salt, you're screwed. I don't care what you drive.

Edit: I work on HVAC, 7yrs for a system right on the beach is good. I' s serviced some older. But 5-10 years is good ocean front.

Sorry to say OP but the salt air will definitely reek some havoc on the underbody and paint. For the paint you should clay and seal it often. My B.I.L has the same truck as me (which we both brought brand new months apart) and his chassis has a ton of surface rust compared to mine and he has only lived at the New Jersey shore for 2 years.

Maybe, I took mine to pismo and drove on the sand and dunes, not even wet sand and definetly not in the water. Ever scratch on my sliders had surface rust over night.

If you can afford a beach 2nd house I'd think frame rust and your truck wouldn't really be a concern...congrats on the new house.

Old A/C was built with steel and copper. New units are aluminum.

My 1st gen was parked only a couple hundred feet from the ocean 5 days a week for 12 years, no rust issues. The parking lot is along the shoreline and the still truck looks fine.
    20170213_065729.jpg
Just give it a regular wash every week and you'll be fine.

Some of the stuff I see at work just to give you an idea how close to the ocean I am.

You should sell the beach house cheap, it's worth taking the lose to save your truck.

Edit: let me know when you list the beach house.

    Yep, agreed.

Sell the beachhouse to someone who will live there year round and become a local.

Like previously mentioned, fluid film the underside, clean and wax regularly, it will last much longer. BTW, congrats on the beach house!

If you can buy a property near the beach in Jersey, your probably rich enough to buy a new truck every 3 years.
