Why are RTT's so expensive?

25 years in the rear view pal. I served in Gulf War I. Sorry you have an issue with it. Maybe you couldn't hack it- I don't know. To each his own.

No. I just think RTT's are an enormously stupid waste of money for jerks that want 'the look'. The OP was correct- "Why are they so expensive?" Because morons buy them to haul them around in town on their trucks and camp 7 days out of the year at places they can only drive to. But my God "I LOOK COOL".

    That. Is. Stupid.

    Truth kinda hurts, huh?

Sorry- but I see the RTT crowd here on vacation a ton. Bunch of pansy ass dumb asses that never leave a campground. I'm glad they enjoy it, but I will laugh at you.

    Seriously. Most of us do.

Anyway here is the view from my RTT. I enjoy mine, I have several ground tents as well when I am backpacking, I do both.

Not sure why others feel entitled to belittle other peoples choices for camping. Million ways to skin a duck.

I like the idea of Rtt's for the easy setup, 4 season camping, and I hardly ever camp in the same place night to night.

I've slept in everything from deflated rafts waking up with a hamburger smashed into my back hair, to 100k RV's in the dessert. As long as you're out doing sometime other than watching sports or playing video games is what matters.

Whatever you do, don't say you're going on an expedition, that's just lame.

Thank you for your cervix. :^) That sure is a lot of butt hurt implications you're implying. You should go camping with the guy who thinks spraying his fuddy-fo into the darkness is a good idea, you might get along, and you can shitpost with your iPhones side by side belittling strangers expenditures from a geophysical and moral high ground those RTT sleepers cannot themselves get to.

"25yrs away" tends to denote working for something.

"25yrs past, beyond, after, ago, etc" denotes already achieved something.

The finer nuances of the English language are not easy... moreso the Americanized version of the same.

And again, you are persisting with your assumption that everyone in a RTT only uses it 7 days a year, and they never leave a campsite. Where did you get this unwarranted bias? Even your-state based brethren, the dudes at Expedition Overland, used theirs for a bit more than 7-days at a time. You ever take that camper the length of North and South America?

Why would your comments hurt me in any way? Do you honestly believe that I truly care what you believe about people with RTTs? Not to mention I am long past the point of the RTT, I am MUCH deeper in the weeds now, and proud of it. :)

Seriously man, stop with the unbridled rants. You are only making yourself out to be more of a arrogant and/or ignorant person with each click of the Post Reply button.

Oh don't make me get my kayak pictures out you douche, lol.

Seriously has anyone taken into account the OP's question and actually thought about it?

RTT's are INSANELY expensive for what? Sleeping off the ground? Hell I did that with my first truck in the bed when I was 19!

I mean seriously folks- the damn things are overpriced. I'm glad you enjoy the outdoors. But by God- don't be like the hundreds of posers that vacation in MT thinking you are 'out there', when you are at a roadside camping spot with a view.

You guys (and you you know who you are) are posers.

I know maybe, MAYBE 1 guy that has an RTT that actually hits heavy shit. The rest of us take our trail bikes and a tent.

Seriously. Overpriced suburban look-like-a-man BS. Save yourself a grand and buy a frekin' tent. Or save $1,500 and buy a tarp and sleep in the back of truck. Shit I did it that way to Alaska on the ALCAN. But hey- A fool and his money is quickly parted, eh?

@Threerun you opulent bastage. Your tent has central heating and a log splitter! I don't want to hear it!

I went to a big event a few years ago at a park over here. Probably 25 trucks and twice as many buggies. Motorhomes for miles. It got down to the mid teens every night. I was the only person in a tent. People came by each morning to gawk at the "idiot" in a tent. Bunch of pansies.

@noiwillnotfixurpc, they're expensive because people keep buying them.

All this from a man that was douped into buying a 3rd Gen Tacoma, then douped again into buying a Silverado.

Should have saved yourself 10s of thousands of dollars and just bought a 1990 Ford F-150.

I can't tell from this thread who's making more money: tent makers or soap box makers.
