I just bought a thrush welded single in dual out muffler in hopes of running two pipes straight out the back. I have heard that in order to do this the spare tire has to be removed. I don't want to remove my spare if I don't have to. Is there anyway around this? Has anyone done this before on the first gen tacos? Pictures would be great if possible. It's an 03 prerunner trd off-road. Thanks

    Slight correction in terminology.

That's not dual exhaust. It's dual tail pipes.

Since it serves no functional purpose, I've never researched how an install would go.

But I'm betting a local muffler shop would easily look over routing with you and give you options. 'Cause you're going to have to have something custom made anyway.

Yes I am aware it serves no purpose other than sound. I didn't want to go true dual exhaust because of my limited budget :crying: I just wanted to be able to hear it a little bit when I hit the skinny pedal a little bit and I didn't know if anyone else had done this before and had any options or tips

On my 2000 four door I remember the muffler guy ran the drivers side pipe between the rear spring and the frame and then out just behind the rear mud flap pointing down at about a 45* angle. The spring can never be compressed enough to hit the pipe so all was well and never had a problem. I had a Flow Master single in dual out muffler, sounded great.

I don't know how you feel about one-sided sweptside pipes but that's what I did. I think they're pretty cool. They go over the diff, then one over the other between the spare and leafpack, then side by side as they exit, up close to the body. I did this in 2009.
