So two weeks ago, I finally took my truck off road for a little fun in the mud. For the next 3 days my truck was covered in mud and it sort of baked on my Tacoma. I finally got around to washing her, but not before the rear suspension started squeaking badly.

So I took it her to the dealership to make a warranty claim for rear suspension squeaking and the service advisor told me that ALL Tacoma are known for rear suspension squeaking and that Toyota will do nothing for it. So hearing this, I left.

This squeaking is bad I tell you. Even gentle acceleration causes it to squeak. I do not think this is normal. In fact, I don't think Tacoma would have the good reputation that they do if this was the fate of all of them.

What do you think is going on? The service advisor sprayed some silicone on my leaf springs and said that this may be the best bet for reducing the squeaking.

Today it was as bad as ever.

So frustrated. To add insult to injury, I am at 33,500 miles on the Tacoma, so I only have a month or so before I am out of warranty.

It's a truck. Deal with it or sell it and buy something else. Trucks make noises. There's plenty of other threads on this already.

Mine does the same. Damn Amish suspension. 11k on it. There have been TSBs on older models, and other manufacturers for the same problem. Just keep reporting it. Hopefully once they see enough problems, they'll TSB the 3Gs too.

And there is a how-to thread to fix it yourself. Search for "squeak" in this forum.

Pressure wash between the leaf springs. If it's still squeaking, be a man and live with it. It's not a fucking Rolls. I take mine off-road and bury it in mud to the frame. Leafs squeak. Other manufacturers do the same. Dirt gets between metal surfaces and causes friction.. pic of my truck. Still dirty. Probably won't wash it till I get back from Florida in 7 weeks lol

Such a bullshit response because they shouldn't squeak, it's not normal, Toyota has replaced leafpacks for effected folks, and they created a tsb for the old gen.

I believe the squeak is actually caused by the plastic spacers /clips they have on the sides.

People have had the best luck with the lithium grease on those clips.

I thought the TSB for the older models was because of the premature sag? Was it because of the squeak too?

Someone posted a tsb that had those rubber strips they put between the leafs. The ol bicycle innertube trick.

These things may run forever, but they certainly don't do it without a fuss.

The brand new Nissan I have as a rental didn't make a sound or anything. I took it on a trail today, now it squeaks like crazy. Just the nature of the beast. Dirt and mud get in there and ruins the little grease that's in there.
