So I just don't have an extra $1400-1900 for a swing out, but I want to secure my new full size matching spare.

The Nfab tire carrier has been about the only solution I could find. I kind of like the looks, but it does take up the bed. I don't haul often so that's not a big issue (until I haul something).

Is there any other option I'm overlooking? Advice?

Ratchet strap it flush with the front of the bed and save up the pennies for a swing out. You keep your spare, keep most of your bed space, and you save money for what you really want.

Yeah, you'll probably regret getting a bed mount the second you have to move something. Save up and purchase what you want. I know I sometimes have "immediate gratification" syndrome but I usually slap myself back into shape and wait patiently for the good stuff

I have had about $700 burning a hole in my pocket. I bought some weather techs because they were there, I was thinking of a snorkel but the tire and wheel will be here Monday. With summer vacation and all that upon me I'm afraid I'll nickel and dime my truck funds away. I'm actually considering selling some gun stuff to bump my mod money.

Take that $700 and cash it. Take the cash and put it in your gun safe (with your forum name, I'm sure you have one). Every time you go to the grocery store, withdraw $20 and add it to your fund. Take $50/paycheck, cash it, add it to your fund. So that'll probably be $140/month you're contributing to your bumper fund. After around 6 months you'll have enough for a new swing out.

    Sorry.

This is just a little process I developed when I want a high ticket item. I also add cash that people repay me.

    Anyone seen my wallet?
Ive sold guns to fund truck parts too, just didnt have a need for a million guns and wanted modzzzzz.

I also have the nfab carrier. While i ultimately would like a swingout, this actually works really well and doesnt bother me a bit to remove. It does take up A LOT of bed space, but ive been able to carry plenty of things for a 2 day trip in the bed still. When my bumper and sliders came in, i tried to borrow my dads truck but resorted to just taking out the carrier, it took <10 mins to take out another 15 or so to put back in. No biggie at all.

Still have a trail jack mounted on one side, can fit my moutain bike, mounted a fire extinguisher to the left side of the carrier and can fit axe and shovel on quickfist mounts on the front rail under it. I have a cable lock through the spokes to the corner tie down.

find a local fab shop and have him price out a swingout or a proper in bed tire carrier. for the price of that nfab, I had this tire swingout built and coated. Just be patient
