Disclaimer: This write-up is only a description of what I did to MY truck. I am in no way an expert in the electrical field (if anyone notices any flaws in my setup please feel free to call me out).

So for the USB I chose the Blue Sea System's 1045 Fast Charge 4.8Amp Dual USB Charger. It was around $40. I chose it because I intend on charging my phone and iPad when they are mounted on my dash and it had the best features compared to their regular USB charger.

I removed my glove box which has I think 4 screws and a few clips that release when I pulled it out. I had to remove some other molding panels on the far right side and I also removed the left hand bolt on the airbag underneath the box (the airbag is mounted on a metal bracket which bent out a little but didn't really affect it when I reinstalled it).

The hole I needed to drill for the charger is 1 inch in diameter and requires some plastic trimming on the main dash panel behind it (I used a utility knife for that part). Once I inserted it there is a plastic nut that threads on the backside holding it in place.

For the wiring I used 14 awg and a 5 amp fuse. Again I'm not that electrical savvy but I'm pretty sure that will work just fine. I routed the wiring through the center console's base and through the fire wall under the steering column. I then attached the wires to a Blue Seas 12 Blade Fuse Block I have mounted in the engine bay. Pelfreybilt makes an awesome panel for mounting the fuse blocks which is the one I used.19830356_1527693163918611_624188016_o.jpg 19866940_1527692970585297_742899361_o.jpg

Nice write up - super useful especially being in an age where everything runs on a battery and needs a charge:cheers:

What holster are you using for the space gun over there?:anonymous:

Thanks! Its the Ohai Crossbreed holster. It has a Velcro back so I can swap it out for different guns.

I am sure it is covered somewhere here if you search for it.

With that said, it is very easy to remove the box.
Open the box, squeeze in sides to swing it past the side catches, open it farther (contents are likely hitting the floor now), pull box of the rail.

This is same procedure used to change the cabin air filter. one does not need to remove the box completely for the filter but you are like 90% there.

My apologies, You are correct that is the procedure for the 2nd gen, 1st gen IRRC, 2010 Camry.......

It does, however, look like it was covered in the OP. Even with the requirement of a screw driver, it seems fairly easy and straight forward.

I’m with ya! Your typical citation stop would result in hands up, out of the vehicle, seizure of arm, and major fines. And that’s if you’re lucky not to get shot and killed in the process! Law Enforcement has been on edge the past few years and it doesn’t take much for a rookie cop to get nervous...a suberb in Chicago just banned assault rifles and is making those who own it surrender it or face a $1,000 per day fine. Very unconstitutional especially if it’s being taken without reimbursement!

Gonna do a write-up for the net guy to go at it?

Edit: FYI... I had just replaced the cabin filter in the mother-in-law's 2010 Camry Monday evening, so when I saw your question my brain derailed and thought yea same as my Taco. Easy as pie... hopefully I can regain control of the grey matter soon. :D

Well, here in CA, you'd probably see people blasting each other daily in fits of road rage. Probably a different scene where you're at.

Still, I've been driving for 30 years. Never needed a loaded piece at the ready. Not sure I see the purpose.

Yeah I rarely carry anymore just because it's a hassle and I have never needed a loaded gun on the ready while sitting in the driver seat but when I do carry it's a convenient place to stow it.
