Weimaraners are not Labradors and color alone does not define breed.

I used to belong to a lab group and every time the "silver" argument happened, the "Weim" claim was central to the claim of silver :) Usually, someone needed a gentle reminder you can't make labs from weimaraners :)

I grew up throwing bumpers back in the day when you could have a Lab win a field trail event on Saturday and a
dog show on Sunday. I've seen the line drawn in the dirt between working Labs and show Labs. I've been around
1000's of Labs in my life. I just feel deeply Labs are either yellow, black or chocolate. There are always going to be
breed standards. I just can't look at a dog and say its a Lab if its silver or fox red. Sad thing is Labradors have been
declining in standards thanks to back yard breeders just popping out litters with no regard to breed standards. I love
Labs and will always have them in the back of my Tacoma.

My yellow lab was bred by the father of my daughter's friend, he had a yellow bitch who had show genes, and he intentionally bred her with a field champion hoping to get genetic diversity and healthier dogs. sadly, 3/4ths of the pups ended up having medical problems in their adulthood, mostly joint, and most are dead, ours is still doing fine at 11 yrs old, guess we got lucky, We picked the alpha female of the litter, she was the one who pushed the others off the best nipple :D Ours was a deep honey yellow, other pups were pale yellow, almost white, and black (yes, the field dog had recessive black genes, that was known going in).

The quality of pure bred dogs has been declining for a long, long time.

Sammie did well for her first time at the beach. She's actually handled people wanting to pet her too. Have to explain to people to approach slowly since she's blind.

Cutest pups out there, but I'm a little biased of course.

I wouldn't buy a dog where the male and female are in the same State. Father of my current dog is from Kansas, female from Washington. Both field champions. DNA testing, hips, eyes, ears, eic. Doesn't guarantee anything, but you've got a much better chance. And you have to get the actual paperwork. Not something they printed from just any site online.

Not sure what my deal is, but came across another dog in need today. Found this guy with a couple that found him while biking.

    20170711_114846.jpg

They were stopped on the side of the road. Initially, I drove by thinking maybe they were just giving their dog and rest. Got down the road a bit and decided to turn around and make sure they weren't in need of some help.

When I pulled up, they had a friend there ready to load up their bikes and the dog to take for the night. I offered to take him instead since I was off the next day and could take him to our city animal shelter in the morning.

    20170711_120520.jpg

Brought him home and gave him some food, water and a bath. He's really laid back and very friendly. Introduced him to my three muts one by one. He interacts with other dogs well. Chance, the 8-mo who still has his kiwis (for the next two weeks), kept trying to mount him. He let Chance know in no uncertain terms that behavior will not be tolerated.

I would guess he's six or seven years old, maybe a little older. He needs some dental work and his nails trimmed, but seems to be in good health otherwise. He'd be a great family dog. I'm sure he'll get adopted quickly.

I'm not sure out of state is any guarantee but it certainly helps. But paper wise, agreed. Gotta check.

Just as a decent breeder will select clients, so must you interview the breeder.

Hello fellow dog poeple. Enjoyed checking out all the dog photos in this thread, lots of cool breeds and crosses represented here! I have been searching all the dog mods on TW and considering my options for my newly purchased Tacoma.

    My dog is a malinois.

I don't have any good photos of her with my Taco yet, but here is a shot of her on my work truck (Tundra).
