Hi all, I've been hunting for a Tacoma for a good while and I found one in my budget and that I like but the pics of the frame the owner sent to me concerns me. Its an 05 6 speed and he live about 100 miles away. He sent me two pictures shown below and it doesn't look great to me. He also said he put a coating on it but looks like rust is bleeding through that. You guys know this issue all to well so I have to ask, is this a screwed frame? Would I be able to get a new frame from Toyota if it is rotting? Would I have any recourse at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just want to know what Im in for or if I should proceed at all.

While it looks like surface rust. There's a difference between here/there and the entire frame.

Subd for answers on whether or not Toyota would replace the frame. Is the time for getting a new frame passed?

get yourself a hammer and go bang on it. 10mm hole is a factory fail. up by the cats is a popular place for rust.

    yep..
Looks like he smeared brown caulk all over that. :stirthepot:

Frame could be solid. If you really like it, do a thorough inspection with a hammer and a flashlight.

Also I don't believe the truck can get a new frame as it would be purchased after Dec X 2016 (some date close to that)
