As far as i know,i hooked all of these up right (assuming red is possitive and black is negatve on the harness) And the top led is still on... i wired up a second switch to a similar but not exactly same wire harness and it works flawlessly. Could it be the switch? or do you think i have something wrong?

If the description is correct the switch probably follows the common logic used for car switches. here is assumed internal diagram.

    swirtch.jpg

Base on than if 2 and 3 are connected by the switch. So the upper led should light up only when 12 is on contact 3. That should happen only when switch is closed. Unless you have some small leak in the relay circuit that would put 12V on contact 3 when switch is open, contact 3 should have 0V when switch is open, so upper LED will not be powered.

If you swap 2 with 3 than you will have effect like you describe, because 3 would always have 12V regardless of switch position, the upper LED would be always ON. So make sure 3 is connected to relay and 2 is connected to +12V, not the reverse.

Victory at last! Thank you for the suggestion. I got the chance to tear the dash back apart and check the lines with a volt meter. Turns out that the generic harness I used, was wired with the yellow wire (what I assumed went to the relay)being the 12v +, and the red wire being the actual relay wire. Problem all solved now. Thanks for the help. I'll post up a picture tonight.

The final product... I also installed a dual USB charger using a fuse tap and in the "gauge" fuse located in the in cab drivers side fuse panel. This is a source that is only on when the ignition is on. Turned out great IMO.

    Cool, glad it works.

Can you share a bit of details about your light bar install you have on the front bumper. I like it.

Thanks, I used a universal light mount that mounts up to your license plate. $20 of Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EMYUOGY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . It isn't ultra stable (meaning it wont hold more that about 15lbs before bending) but its plenty to hold the lightbar without any rattles. For the light bar i went with a 20 inch nilight "amazon light bar" with horizontally adjustable mounts so i could easily line up the mounting holes on the license plate bracket. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WE47FVM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . I know its not as much as a rigid would put out but this light bar deffinatly does the job for me and the driving i do. Even better matched up with some auxbeam 4d spot pods on cbi ditch light brackets...:amen::thumbsup:

Thanks for the info. So it is sitting in front of the bumper, I guess. I thought you did some chrome bumper mod for it.

I'm looking for an idea of clean LED bar setup. I'd love to put it between blinkers but unfortunately I have to keep this stupid wide Polish license plate in there.

I still want to keep my bumper working as a bumper (for stupid drivers here) so nothing should be sticking out in front of it. Or maybe it's time for grill mod :boink:. Some setup similar to what I have in 4Runner

    Thanks again.

Yes, the positive for the switch with the positive for the light.

Yo @MAUIAUSTIN ! I know this is an old post, but I am in a similar predicament and found this post incredibly helpful..! Was curious what rocker switch panel you used to set that up right below your radio like that? I wanna do the same. Yours fits flush and snug!! Looks great.. glad you got it sorted!! Cheers!
