I have a 2013 Tacoma and at any speed I loose acceleration. The vehicle will not respond to the accelerator for a few seconds. Usually it only lasts for a short time. A few times I have had to coast to the shoulder before the accelerator kick back in. I have taken it to service many times but they can never duplicate the problem.

Interesting. My 2013 has done the same since I purchased it. Even today, I got out in traffic and punched it and it paused. I just got used to it. Not saying you should, but I did.

The Tacoma is drive by wire. If it were me, I would ohms test the any of the electronics that are associated with the accelerator and throttle body.

What does drive by wire mean? My Tacoma drives by using gas.

Drive by wire means you aren't moving a throttle cable with the pedal, just telling the servo motor that controls the throttle to do so.

Drive by wire just means more problems.

I should have been more specific with my post, basically the pedal is a potentiometer (think volume knob on a stereo) that is hooked up electronically to the engine's ECU to control an electric motor (Servo) on your throttle body just like @Allstar780 posted. I've seen a bad one on a Mazda3, the engine idled okay but when you hit the accelerator nothing happens, or you get a sporadic throttle. I'm curious, when this happens next try shifting to neutral to see if your engine stalls or idles, if it's safe to do so.

Could be your brake light switch. If it is activating your brake lights randomly it will cut your throttle. Safety feature.
