I replaced mine when I installed my AAL and torqued them to 90 foot pounds. A short time later they had to be torqued again because a couple were less than that. I've checked them a couple times in the last year with no issues since. If 44 is a number you believe in I guess that's all that matters.

44 is the number specified on the new leafs and new ubolts that go with them, written in the tsb

they are set at 44, and my truck is faultless since the tsb work (vibration 15-25mph under accel)

Interesting. I am a second owner to this truck. It has 93k on it. So anything is plausible. I dont have any squeaking of U joints. Previous owner had a cap, so I figured my leafs were just weak as F after carrying that around for 93k. It almost feels like a pop / getting bumped from behind when i accelerate from a red light.

The "slack" feeling IMO is axle wrap, mine pretty much went away after I got the TSB leaf pack but it's slowly came back overtime. It never completely went away. I'm at 77K now.

The "bump" is a separate issue I believe, it's a hard downshift when you come to a complete stop. Only happens in certain scenarios from what i've noticed.

Either way i've learned to live with both, all good so far. Definitely does feel like a U-Joint initially.
