Can you mount a RTT on a cap?

I have a 2013 Tacoma with a Ranch cap and would love to mount a RTT to it but I have an idea it would crack as all I seem to see are pics of RTTs mounted to bed racks. Has anyone had experiences with this? Can you reinforce the caps? Can you mount them on the roof of the truck? (I am thinking this is also a No) thoughts?
