OK what's it going to be? You have to be specific.

    Afternoon everyone

Decided a trip was in order to the VA to the PM&R Clinic for a knee brace consult .Not looking forward to the drive home , traffic backed up before the last grade of the Cajon Pass . looks like a fun time going home headed back up the hill

    Edit ...

Looks like a bad two car crash that happened almost 3 hrs ago on the hill , hopefully it clears up soon or it'll be a long drive back home

I don't own a Kamado type cooker, have several friends that do and swear by them. Personally I just don't see where they are so great and worth the extra money. But the egg heads that own them seem to love them. Maybe because they spent so much money on them?

If you look at what @Martin64 and @scottalot use it is nothing fancy. But older and been well used they know how to use what they have, it is the Indian not the arrow.

I use a weber smokey mountain because I have always wanted one LOL. And got tired of using a kettle grill. As far as keeping temps constant that is where knowing your cooker comes in. Personally I am past the stage of going outside to baby sit a smoker and making adjustments and they all need adjustments at one time or another. Especially when it is teems below zero when you start and teens above when you finish.

Which is why I went with an automatic temperature controller which is a small fan, sensors and computer to keep temps constant. They can be expensive but worth it to me. Don't let the egg head ceramic cooker people fool you they sell as many or more ATC's to them than anyone.

As long as you get a quality cooker and learn it that is what is key IMO. There is only one Ceramic cooker I would consider because it can truly do indirect heat and cooking in addition to everything else. The Primo Oval XL but they run about $1,600 and accessories are expensive like all the ceramic cookers. And I'd have to build a new deck to support the weight also.

Good luck and take your time choosing! Some people feel only their way is best- Kamado, pellet poppers, lump, bullet, etc. But honestly all it takes is just meat and fire.

Never seen a MM look like that! I'd pull a corn planter in that thing all day long. Out here they usually have a GPS in them and auto steer the fields are so big. Not your grandfathers massey ferguson. Or if you had money and rich river bottom farm land a good old made in Pa. New Holland. We grew rocks in the mountains LOL.

One of the Kamado styles that I looked at was a non-ceramic double insulated version that was much more reasonably priced. And I noticed regardless of the style you can spend as much as you want on these jokers: http://www.traegergrills.com/shop/grills/timberline-series/timberline-1300/TFB01WLB.html
