So I'm probably going to pull the trigger on this tomorrow. Just wanted to get some opinions before I do it. It's a '95, 150k miles. 4x4, manual trans. I'm not sure which engine it has since I didn't get to look inside. But I didn't spot any rust anywhere (frame or body), and the interior looks great.

What should I expect to pay for this? I'm in central FL. Pics below.

    Thanks

What motor it has is a pretty big determining factor...

3RZ is a great motor, but only in a regular cab (imho).

I'm in Colorado, so my price experience is probably a little skewed compared to the rest of the country, but...

    3.4L: $10k
    2.7L: $6-7k

Last year I paid $5500 for my 96 regular cab 2.7 from a guy in Tallahassee. It had 174k with tons of service records in really good shape.

Awesome, thank you. I'll find out which motor and report back.

That's strange front bumper. All 95-96 Tacomas I've seen with chrome bumper have blinkers in the plastic bumper cover below the chrome bumper. This one have blinkers in a chrome part.

    It's off an early 3rd gen 4Runner.

Which is a good catch, because it brings up the important question of whether or not the front end was wrecked.

My $.02 is that since it's a 95, there is no TRD locker so that might bring the price down just a tad. But I do agree with you, Colorado prices are way inflated.

Another thing to note is that since these trucks are 'indestructible' and 'Toyota reliability', a lot of people say they 'will run forever if you just change the oil regularly' and so, guess what? That's *all* they do, and let everything else slide. So if I were you I'd point out that the leafs are sagging (I can't really tell, but they probably are), ask if he knows when they timing belt was done (if it's a 3.4L, the other ones have a chain), as well as all the other maintenance like spark plugs, fuel filter, trans/fluids, etc. None of these are deal breakers, mind you, but points to haggle on ;)

Actually on that picture they are. I have better arch with my camper shell. This one looks empty.

Is there a way I could detect front end collision damage? I know on newer vehicles you can look for ill-fitting body pieces, and over spray from a new paint job on the underside of the hood. Anything else that might tip me off?

A carfax, if it was taken care of by insurance. Otherwise, you could crawl under it and see if the frame/bumper horns are straight. Maybe bring a measuring tape? You could take it to an alignment place and see if that's all within spec. Drive it and see if it tracks straight. Check to see if the airbag light is on.
Or you could ask the owner. Maybe he was in a little fender bender, and picked up the 4runner bumper at a junkyard. Or maybe he just liked the styling.
