Hey all! So here's the situation - I took my 05 to the frickin dealership today to TRY and get these leaf springs replaced per the recall... BUT, bc I have a third leaf spring (I have a 3" lift on it) they told me the ONLY way they would do it is if they "put it back to factor specifications". I tried to get them to simply replace the original springs and put it back together. They said no. But here's my thing - I'm not certain I will get every piece and part of my lift kit back. Besides that, it doesn't make sense to me why wouldn't do what I asked? Am I missing something or am I getting screwed by Toyota AGAIN?! (They fkd me BAD on the frame recall) But now I don't know what to do. Advice, PLEASE!!

:argue: I don't think you have much choice if you want the warranty work done... If you're worried about getting all the parts (i would be too) then take it off before you have them do the work.

If you could get them to just give you the springs... Probably not going to happen

If you have an AAL, they won't disassemble the old pack to get it cause then they would have to disassemble and reassemble the new pack with it, which would take time and the mechanics make very little on warranty work.

You can ask them ahead of time if they will give you the old leafs so you can have your mech. switch them over.
Now if you have lift blocks and/or shims, they should put those back in if you bring them new longer u-bolts to put in.

Try another dealer, but Toyota stopped allowing the kits to be reinserted to the recall springs, and if lifted there needs to be documentation of reverting.

Any other vehicle owner would understand you can't warranty a modified part, it's just the nature of the beast.
