    Hello,
I'm looking to mount an axe and shovel and Hi-lift jack on the side inside my bed of my 2004 extra cab 4X4. I do have a canopy on the truck. If someone has some solutions to rails or racks or some creative way to mount those tools on the sides of their bed I would really like to see some pictures or links to parts that would allow me to do so. I have not yet purchased the jack or shovel and axe yet. I'm need to know where to mount them before I can decide on the length of those tools.

    Thanks!

I was going to use L-track attached to the bed rail, but the cap interferes. I think it's still a viable solution. I'll probably use a piece of flat aluminum stock to extend the bed rail below the cap so I have a place to mount the track. At least that's what I have in my head.

Not mine, but illustrates the general concept.

I just used two 2x6 and notched around the bed rails and camper top. Slide the camper top clamps back flush with the wood and ran two bolts through the face of the wood to mount the jack. Shovels, Flashlights, etc could also easily be mounted.

Is that a teeny weeny itty bitty dent in the rocker panel exactly below the lower right corner of the door (just curious)?

That might not even be a 'dent' but maybe someone tried to jack up the truck there and screwed it up.

Looks like a dent to me. A couple of years ago I drove east to west over Mengel Pass and a boulder reached up out of nowhere and kissed the driver's rocker panel. The repair estimates were $1,200 for an 8-inch dent. Outragious! So I ordered a special spray can of the factory paint, smoothed out the scratch, then primered and painted the dent.

    Now I have a clean, smooth, nice-looking dent... ;)

After closer inspection it's only some dirty spots!
