Why are people saying you can re use your tpms sensors? I thought they had like a internal battery and once they go out they are out? Has anyone found a good place to get new sensors?

The battery lasts a long time. More than one set of tires. Depends on how fast you go through tires. YMMV

I work at Lexus and see batteries failing after about ten years. Solution: buy a new sensor.

All of mine are still working on my 07 after 10 years and 180.000 miles. Our 09 Honda has at least one that has failed. I've bought them off Amazon before for a Wrangler we used to own. I will buy a set for the Honda at some point and have them replaced when tires go on it the next time. Not going to pay extra to have them mounted.

I know lots of folks think they are a pain, but having them has paid off for me twice. In 2011 I was driving 75 mph across Oklahoma when my warning light came on. I quickly pulled over just in time to see the right rear go flat. There was less than 30 seconds between the light coming on and the tire being completely flat. Being able to get the truck off the road with some air in the tire was a lot better than losing a tire with no warning at 75 mph. That may well have prevented a serious accident.

mine have been out for a while now too, dealership and one other tire place I talked to says its about $75-90 for the sensor and an additional 18 to pull the tire and break the bead, I've found them online for like 20-30 but I've also heard of people having issues with programming aftermarket(ebay) ones, interested to see how this works out for you so I can do something similar.

The sensors on my '09 are working, however as I have manged to survive 72 years without TPMS at the 1st sign of their not working I will disable the warning light and be done with it...
