Anybody know the rough dimensions of the under-seat storage for the rear seats?

New member here with a DCLB on the way and I wanted to know how much space I'll have for gear under those back seats. If anyone has a L x W x H of it that would be awesome.

    -Thanks

Bigger than a breadbox but smaller than the bed of the truck. Roughly :boink:

Well that narrows it down a little bit.

If they are the same as the 2nd gen bins, and I think they are, not much room. I was underwhelmed, and even had trouble getting a large ice scraper/brush to fit. They waste a lot of potential space under there, just as they did behind the seats with the stupid plastic bins.

Well that's a bit of a letdown. I was hoping to shove my first aid kit (10" x 8" x 3") under there along with some ratchet straps and other necessities.

There is space behind the seats that may work for your space requirements. When I went for a test drive I brought my tool bag and daughters car seat with me to make absolutely sure the vehicle would fit my needs. If you are close enough to a dealer I would suggest the same.

That was good thinking, I should've done the same. I'll just re-package it if necessary to fit in the breadbox. Thanks

Ratchet straps on the driver side is about all you'll get. The interior shape is highly irregular and sloped at weird angles. The passenger side bin is for jack storage, and you can toss a couple more wrench es in there, like for hitches or breaker bar.

In my second Gen I fit two hitch sleeves, one for tow and other for pull. 5 ratchet straps and 6 bungee cords behind the driver. Also a few ponchos for bad bad situations. The passenger has the Jack and poles so I could only fit a rolled up set of bin coveralls(I'm a big guy so they are huge)

Hope that helps some. I think your medical bag will be fine if it's soft sided

That 8 inch dimension will be your failure point under the seats., but it should fit behind the rear driver side seatback.

Alright, I really don't know why they can't just do a nice square hollowed out bin space under the rear driver-side seat at least...oh well.
    I appreciate the help guys

I feel your pain. Apparently, the designers at Toyota never use tools and hitches and first aid kits in their trucks. I could store a 52-pc Craftsman tool set under my driver seat in my 1st gen X cab. When I got the 2nd gen DCLB, I quickly discovered it would not fit under the front seats, under the back seats, or in the bins behind the back seats. WTF. I was furious. Lots of guys tear out the plastic shit behind the back seats to gain storage. Doing this is high on my list.
