    They can be used as a step too, i use mine as a step to load stuff onto my prinsu roof rack. It isnt as low as the regular side steps though.

    They can be used as steps, but tend to sit a little higher than traditional steps. The biggest differences are things you can not tell right away: the material they are made of (thicker wall tube vs. thin metal) and how they mount to your truck. Tube steps usually mount to small threaded holes on the underside of the truck cab (body), sliders will bolt or weld directly onto the frame and add rigidity to the frame itself while providing protection from rocks, door dings, shopping carts, old ladies in motorized scooters, etc.

    If I was in the market, these would be a no brainer since they would cost about the same as most tube steps new.

    Depends on how far they stick out. I can use mine as steps ... which was the main reason my wife told me to get them.:D
