Never had complaints on hauling anything with mine. Roof rack and cross bars handle 99% of my obscure payloads.

Sleeping in mine has recently become a concern though. Hence the birth of my tent-creation. It is however not very secure.

@Mrguitarguy01 and everybody else for that matter.

Check this guy out when you have some time.

    http://nowheretobetour.blogspot.com/?m=1

He does a lot of traveling(especially in his earlier posts) in a bone stock LWB Tacoma with a bed camper.

I have been reading/drooling over his posta for almost 2 years now.

    He finds some amazing places.

Good read to put things in perspective.
The simplicity of what he is equipped with vs where he goes.

Has anybody had good luck selling their stock tires locally? I've only got 1k miles on so far, and I kinda want to put on some M/Ts, but I also don't want to throw away money, but also don't want to wait 30k miles to get a better tire.

Depends on what your definition of "throwing money away" is. I replaced the stock skins on my Taco when I put the lift on, about 1500 miles after I bought the truck new. DT gave me some trade in cash off the BFG's I put on, (Michelin wasn't manufacturing the tires I wanted at the time), but if I recall, it was only $30/tire. To me, that was okay, rather than dealing with the "would you take $10 for the whole set, if I decide to actually show up and buy them" gang that trolls Craigslist. YMMV.

Oh. I was thinking I could sell them to one of the many used tire operations around town. Surely they'd give more than 30$ a tire? The goodyear kevlar jobbers sell for 180ish new. No way I would want to have them sitting around on Craiglist ... That's what I'm doing already with my old 4Runner.

I'm 5'5 so cabin space is enough. I sleep just fine in a ford fiesta backseat. The Tundra would be luxury as I would (and for the tacoma as well) remove the back seats entirely and put the biggest bed I could in there.
As much as I want a 4R, I feel a truck is the way to go. It lends itself to have more variety in configurations. I can modify it for the trip. For my first trip (all 50 states, or at least the interesting ones) I wouldn't need a habitat. Plus would just have a rack with Jerry can attachments, tools and miscellaneous stuff. I could maybe put a shell for protection of the tools and shower, or I could sleep in the bed. But for beginning the backseat is where I will sleep until I grow the expedition in which I'd add a shell and eventually graduate to a habitat. You just dont have that flexibility with a 4R, plus the space for tools without hurting the aerodynamics of it.

The question is between the Taco and the Tundra. I want the Taco because it has a locker, and a manual transmission, but I'm willing to compensate the MT for MPG's. It seems the Tundra would do better for normal terrain even advanced terrain with weight for MPGS.

I don't plan to rock craw. River crossings, snow, mountain areas, jungle areas (I imagine) and Softtoppers x5 terrain is what I'm prepping for. Without going I won't be able to know if I should have a more flexible vehicle for trails, but so far from looking a Tundra has better value (space, MPGS loaded) for relatively the same amount of money. No locker though.

That being said, my heart is with the Taco. Its just a huge 60k investment. I can't go with just heart.

Any advice or opinions are welcome. And all who want to join on any trip I do is/are more than welcome.

I have a friend at work that visited some family in Puebla recently, he got arrested for taking the wrong highway at the wrong time...fuck that noise! I'll fly there if I ever go again.
