Hey, this is my first post so first off, I'm excited to join this community, and thankyou for being here...

I picked up my 06' Tacoma V6 PreRunner Sport last year, it came already modified with a 3/2" lift, bigger tires, and American Racing wheels, I love being higher up, I love the look, I love my truck. However I am not crazy about the ride, from the start I found it stiff and bouncy, I've since gotten used to it, and its fine for short distances, and when loaded up it is noticeably smoother, but still think there is alot of room for improvement, especially as I would like to use it for some longer road trips...

Since then I have been receiving letters from Toyota about the leaf-spring recall and thought this would be a good opportunity to install some new shocks Front and Rear along with the new leaf-springs to improve the ride... Anyway, I took the day off work yesterday to bring the truck to the dealer, the service representative who received me assured me the recall could be performed despite the 2" block lift in the rear... 5 hours later I get a phone call from a mechanic saying the U-Bolts on the lift will not accommodate the the new springs and the truck needs to be returned to stock (front and rear) for them to perform the recall. I understand the liability issues but this was pretty frustrating to me considering the first guy told me it could be done no problem...

But anyway my question to you guys is should I spend the money and time removing the lift blocks and bolts like they requested?... Cross my fingers and try and get the dealer to install them again with the lift but bringing along new U-Bolts to accommodate the springs?... Or should I just leave the old springs and ignore the possibility of catastrophic failure, assume the ride won't be that much improved anyway, and instead invest my time and energy getting my local shop to install new shocks on the old lift blocks... what do you guys think??

Also any recommendations for new shocks to install? I currently have squeaky yellow bilsteins, which seem pretty shot... I rarely haul really heavy loads- no boats or RVs or anything, but frequently haul medium loads- construction materials, furniture, and the occasional uhaul trailer around the hilly and rough roads of LA... I'm looking at the Fox 2.0 Performance range, but also hear Bilstein has some better performing shocks...

Thanks! Will post some images of my whip soon...

    Get Dakar leaf packs.

Wouldnt even bother having Toyota put in another set of leafs that suck just as much as the first set.
