So I picked up my new 17 last week, all seemed fine as I pulled out of the dealer, then I noticed once I got on the highway what seemed to be a lot of feedback in the steering wheel, almost more difficult to steer than my 16 was with a lot more vibrating/feedback, nothing crazy but something is not right. At low speeds all is fine, with speed the feedback, odd steering control increases. At first I thought it was possibly unbalanced wheels and tires, I addressed my concern with the service advisor who was swapping my wheels and tires from my old truck at the time and said the swap will probably fix it, I didnt want to press it being a holiday weekend and I wanted to enjoy my truck. Well its still there with the new wheels and tires. Anyone experiencing this? Thoughts? Maybe alignment or wheel bearings? But on a brand new truck?! Regardless its going to the dealer next week after its back from ceramic coating. Just wondering your guy's thoughts maybe where to help the tech's lean towards. Thanks and happy 4th!

Interesting that you say you didn't have it in your 2016 but do in the 17. I don't know how bad it is, but that was one of the first things I noticed about the truck when I got it. Compared to my old truck (2002 ford), I had to give a lot of feedback on the highway to keep the truck in a straight line. I completely stopped noticing it after a while though, I assume I just got used to it.

As for the vibration, between 2100 and 2300 RPM my steering wheel vibrates like a cell phone. That I have never gotten used to.

I had my 2 week old OR taken in for alignment. They told me the toe was out and fixed it.

Alignments for the most part are like hair cuts. Everyone needs one.

Just the opposite for me. Truck goes straight down the road with 1 finger on the wheel smooth as ever. Now my BMW with it's fancy smancy electric steering needs constant attention. It might be your alignment.

Nope. Was my initial thoughts, did you read my post? Same feeling with stock wheels and tires new and after they swapped to my wheels and tires.

Do you need to know, or care?
That is odd because mine is exactly opposite. Less input at highway speeds and seems much more firm steering at highway speeds. Maybe uneven roads? I notice how much more input mine needs at slow speeds to adjust for irregularities. Tends to toe the line on the freeway so much better.

Either alignment or wheel balance issue.

Wheels aren't balanced unless they are "Road Force Balanced".

You should have the alignment checked.

Yep it seems to be most noticeable on the crappier streets of Tucson at higher speeds, which leads me suspect to alignment, especially since the problem existed with two different sets of wheels and tires. Thanks gents.

Turned out to be my alignment and they also road balanced and phase matched my wheels and tires. All good now! Pays to bring your service guy a six pack every once and awhile lol
