A340F performance rebuild?

At his point, I'm leaning more towards swapping in a used one. I don't really have the $3000+ for a rebuild. I could swap 2 or 3 used ones in before I hit that mark.

But I'd spring for a rebuild if I could actually find a shop I'd trust. We'll see. Ultimately, I don't want to deal with trans woes for a long time.

 

installing a used trans is fine . You can always add the Sonnax zip kit and the trans go kit before you install it . You are probably going to have the pan and filter off before you put the transmission in . The kits are very easy to install and come with all the instructions . Think of the kits as a condom for your transmission

Do you happen to know if the AWD/4WD transmission in the 3rd gen 4runner is a standard A340F?
I think it's a standard A340F with a AWD transfer case.

I assume if I want to rebuild the trans and use the land cruiser spec clutches then I would have to pull the trans out completely.

I just bought a '99 4runner, AWD/4x4 with a supercharger, it has 204K miles and I think I want to rebuild the trans and possibly put a shift kit.
