    hey folks quick questions..

I'm having some loud squeaking noise from my drive shaft. Ive taken a look under the truck and done abit of research but I just wanna know for sure before I go ahead and rip this thing apart..

I noticed my rear U joint boot is ripped, so I figure that's probably the issue. some people are saying that loud squeaking sound under load is the carrier bearing though(only squeaks in reverse, when I'm just accelerating and there is a noticeable vibration at hwy speeds, and city speeds sometimes it goes away though?) . Toyota quoted me almost $400 for a new carrier bearing is that outrages? I also have a 3" front leveling kit upfront and a 2" lift in the rear. I hear getting a spacer for the carrier bearing is a good idea anyone know the specific size spacer I would need for that?
    so my questions are..

    1) is the noise from the U joint or the carrier bearing?
    2) what size drop spacer for the driveshaft for a 3"F/2"R leveling lift?
or.. 3) should I just replace all the U joints and carrier bearing haha:facepalm:

I had a squeaky noise on my drivers side between rim and engine. Ended up being a dust cover that had got bent.

I have a similar squeaky noise from underneath and read in various places that lubricating the propeller shaft and associated universals might help. While greasing everything below I found the carrier bearing to be the source of the squeak. I pulled the two mounting bolts out to spin it freely around the shaft and can feel a minute amount of friction; at very low rpm it will make the rubber duck squeaking sound. I am not sure if this indicates a bad carrier bearing - but it certainly is annoying. Did you end up replacing yours or have you just been living with it?
