I just replaced my front brake pads@ 63K. Now when I'm coming to a stop my steering wheel shake a little. Oh, one other thing I did was have my tires rotated the next day. My truck doesn't pull to the left or right when driving, steering wheel just shakes a bit when I'm coming to a complete stop.

Did you change the rotors? They could cause a little vibration if they warped.

Sounds like you need to resurface your rotors.

Did you bed the new pads properly?

    Most folks don't.

Nothing wrong with reusing the rotors if they are nice and evenly worn. Did you scuff/clean them well, inside and out?

I didn't resurface or replace rotors. I'll try that, thank you.

Bed the pads? I just placed them in and replaced the pins and holding springs. How do you bed the new pads?

So what is the procedure to bedding the new brake pads? 45 mph come to a slight stop? How many times? Is there a technique to doing this?

So here is my story... took my 15 to get tires rotated because I was lazy. Maybe a month or so ago. Next day my truck would vibrate (badly) under braking (40mph~80mph) just like worn rotors. Now I do drive my truck hard but only 40k.. hmm I started to wonder. So I took wheels off to inspect brakes... put tires back on. Torqued to spec. No more braking vibration issue. I believe my shitty dealership over torque my wheels which caused the rotors to maybe warp. But everything is good now. :notsure:

Since most places use torque sticks now, they may not have been over torqued.

However, they may have not been properly torqued procedure wise, as in a criss-cross pattern, making the wheel not be seated properly and possibly cocking the rotor a bit.

Hmmm. Maybe. It was very strange. Honestly felt just like wrapped rotors. Then puff gone.

I did the bedding prescribed on Stoptech.com and it worked no more steering wheel shaking. Thanks Clearwater Bill!
