I'm as confused as you are... It looks like they did a power pass-by to the OBD port.... but I have no idea why the hell you want to do that if you already have power in the OBD port without the key connected..

Maybe a temporary tracker while the vehicle was in either the dealer or paint shop lot? That looks like a decent wire termination for a temp solution though.

Could that be a Shift sense or something of the like?

I am guessing temporary...anything permanent would/should be spliced into the OBD receptacle or further up the signal chain towards the ECU. This appears to be something that is easily plugged into the OBD port but i'm also confused about the power wire since the OBD port is powered by the ignition.

I would take it back to the dealer and make them explain it.

Seems like a tracker from a demo unit.

Maybe the Truck was originally meant for sale to someone else. And some type of accessory was going to be added to his Truck. Or the CIA broke into your truck and are tracking you.

except i had the truck built to specifics. had to wait 3 months for it. maybe someone in the factory in Mexico hid drugs in it and its a way for the drug dealer to find the truck and get the out?

Don't open your door to strangers.
How did you have your truck built to specifics, Toyota doesn't do factory orders. The dealer might have found the same truck and had it delivered to their dealership from another one.

Are longbeds really that hard to get in California?
Maybe take it back to the dealer and ask them. Tell them you are worried that it may affect your warranty and want a explanation.

This is an odd one. The only thing I can think of that the dealer would add in that location is maybe a trailer brake controller.

There is a connector for a trailer brake controller. This is tied into the OBD II port.

Hmm from that OBD adapter I was thinking maybe that was a device for putting the truck in temp check mode but a little research show those would've been the wrong 2 terminals.
Maybe somebody knows the labels for those 2 terminals?
I'd guess dealer locator or some kind of theft protection?
    Interested for the outcome.
