Springfield XDs .45. Been an amazing gun. Small and slim for a .45 makes it really easy to carry and conceal. Comfortable to shoot and hasn't had a single issue whatsoever.

I agree that its slim and easy to carry. Honestly I was really surprised how slim they got a 45. I had issues charging a round and thought it was a tight spring in the magazine so I left them full for a couple days. Still had the issue. The round was getting stuck and wouldn't charge. So field stripped it and saw that the loading ramp on the barrel had a nick in the bottom of it. I sent it back, they had it for 3 weeks. Their tech said he recut the breech. I asked him if he did anything with the nick in it. He said he didn't see it. I said then he didn't look at it. It seems to me that their procedures that they had from years ago and been done away with and their quality has gone down a bit. They don't fire the gun when they build it and they obviously don't have quality control anymore. I have many people telling me that they love their XDs. Hopefully I don't have any problems with it anymore but that glock is looking better and better. I will say that they do have tight tolerances as far as the slide and mag.

Bummer you got the nick and that tech. I've put a ton of rounds through mine and it's never ftf or fte at all. Seems most are solid, but everyone knows shit can happen with mass-produced pieces and QC. It's been a spot-on gun in my experience, so hopefully you don't have any further issues.

Do you have photos of the milling? I want to build one but I don't have a milling machine.

Actually no milling needed! I bought the Stealth Arms Phantom Jig kit which runs ~$200 it has everything to cut the rails and barrel seat. All that you need is a Drill Press and Vice, The vise to hold the jig in place while you hand operate a cutter.
    here's a video on how it's done.

My first gun was a SW SD9VE, pretty good gun when I put a apex trigger spring kit in it. Because SW is notorious of having the worst trigger in the industry. Then I bought myself a Glock 19 and gave the SD9 to my wife, which I sold and bought her a Skky 9mm with a safety. Then after the Glock I got a full size M&P 9mm, should have kept that but my dumb self wanted a 1911, so got a compact 1911 then sold that after a month to a very good friend, then bought a M&P 9 compact now this gun I kept the longest probably 2 yrs, sold that because I wanted to switch over to revolvers, Just sold a 44 special revolver, now I'm looking for a Taurus 905 which is a 9mm revolver or I might get a 357 seeing you can shoot 357 or 38 ammo, but pretty expensive ammo!

Springfield XD-9. Still my go-to. I've yet to use a handgun that I like more. A lot of people hate on the XD series for whatever reason, but the fact is the vast majority of those folks get their knowledge second hand and can't shoot anyway, which pretty much invalidates their opinions. I've been the only student in a class who wasn't using a Glock and ended - up high shooter with zero malfunctions. Good enough for me.

Only pic I have and it was taken for a LaRue contest. Anyway, it's a Colt combat commander .45acp. I started shooting this handgun when I was 9 and started carrying it at age 18. By age 19 I was carrying a glock 19 gen 2 that I bought new in 1995.

I carry a Glock 5 days a week at work. My days off I carry an XD 2.0 as I conceal carry then and I hate the 26.
