There's that or a supremely naive arrogance to it, to me at least

I financed my truck, because I run a business it's gvw is classified as commercial so why not take tax advantage of it. My mods are a writeoff, as are many of my trips.

This is all neither here nor there really though. OP. Explore your options. If using some form of credit can benefit you, and doesn't put you long term in debt, use it.

If you don't have a ton of awesome credit offers available to you, start where you can. Just make smart moves

Damn wanna recommend some good cards to me? I've got immaculate credit but my points program sucks. Need to find a good one with an annual fee that has better points program. I put EVERYTHING on it and pay it off every month but only racking up like $30/month with points. That's even putting like $2k+ per month on it.

around here you can put a down payment on the shell, usually 50%, and then pay the remainder when it comes in about 2 weeks (next paycheck).

that's what I did on the contractor shells for our work Tacos.

Chase sapphire reserve offers some outstanding deals if you use it a lot and pay fast. I think their apr's are high because of it though. My sapphire card originally gave me 100k points and a $300 travel credit if I spent $4k in 90days(travel credit is good throughout the year if I spend $300 on travel). If I know I'll pay balance within 7-14 days I use it exclusively as it's up 3x points. The sapphire card does have a $450 annual fee but so far the fee and interest hasn't tipped the scale away from my favor. When it does I'll just cancel the card.

My credit unions card is the big one, it has a fairly straight 1x point but. 4.75% interest rate. There's no mechanical advantage to using that really other than a low interest rate

I have another chase card I don't really use that has a decent apr and good points as well.

Amex however still retains the points crown with 5x points.

I make ad buys, travel, work purchases on my sapphire reserve and tend to go $0-$15k-$0 biweekly or monthly with it. There's likely better cards than that even but this works for me.

I legit thought this guy was about to finance a friggin' seashell. Regardless, you need to find a real life person to talk to regarding financial decisions.

Yes it does. It absolutely does. There is nothing responsible about financing a truck cap. You can't convince me that credit card points make up for the bad math here.

If a truck cap is 3k. And he can do 0% or get some points and pay off fast what's the bad math.

I wish I could like this over and over again. The anti-debt crowds knee jerk reactions are hilarious though. Yeah, I have credit card debt (0% because of balance transfers) AND use mine daily and get about 50 bucks back on one card each month. Thats nearly 2 tanks of gas for my daily.

but no bro, cash is king!!!!!1111

Apparently how this world works (healthy debt, debt management, credit and credit history/scores) is a very taboo subject on here.

On one side with the anti debt cash is king and the other is how about you just be smart with debt and it will work in your favor crowd will always call each other retards for thinking the way they do. Its actually pretty comical.

    Use whatever works for you.

There's just a big adverse reaction to the word credit. As if all credit involves carrying debt for extended periods of time. Many Americans live well beyond their means and for many a credit card or revolving line of credit can be bad.

It just doesn't have to be.

My local ARE dealer has always offered 12 months same as cash. I've bought 3 shells from them. Paid 50% down and the remaining balance in 3 equal payments. Not a big deal at all.
