    Good day to all.
I'm having a tough time deciding which route to take. I have a 2nd Gen Tacoma 4x4 with factory E locker and I decided I'm going to change my stock ring and pinion to 4.56 since I'm running 285's. I was shopping around and Yotamasters quoted me $2600 (yikes!) out the door for the setup using Nitro Gear. I called Rebel Off Road and they quoted me $1750 out the door using Motive Gear. Of course I'm leaning towards the one with a better price tag, however, I've heard great reviews on Nitro but could not find much on Motive. Before I give the go-ahead I would like some feedback from some Tacoma owners who either have Nitro or Motive.
    Thanks:thumbsup:

Buy all the parts yourself and take it somewhere. Most places upcharge the crap out of you to get the gears and all that. If you're mechanically inclined, buy all the parts, pull your third. Have a shop set up the gears in your third and reinstall third.

Labor for a removed third should be $2-300 a pop + another $500 in gears. Save yourself $1,000 for 3 hours of work.

Thanks for the advise, I was afraid the price was a bit too crazy. But with only one day off out of the week I probably will pay for the extra labor and savor that day off. Plus they warranty their work. But as far as quality goes my question is which company (Nitro, Yukon, Motive...) has the best in quality?

What did you end up going with OP? I'm currently in the same boat.

went Nitro 4.56 and after a year of having them I can honestly say totally worth it. However I plan on sticking with 33's and not go higher so if you plan on having bigger tires I'd be safe and go with 4.88.

Thanks, did you end up having Yotamasters do the work or did you go with a different shop? I am running 35s on stock gears not sure how 4.88s would work if I ever decide to go back to 33s.

I'd go 4.56 if you're gonna be 33-35. With my 6 speed and 4.56 I'm at like 3k rpms at 75. The truck is nice and quick, but my top end suffered. Gonna be bumping up to 35s someday soon, but until then I get to drive around high revving all day lol

from what I heard 4.56 should be fine with 35's, certainly better than running stock gears. Yes I went to Yotamasters in Corona. These guys are experts when it comes to Toyotas. Bit pricey though.

Sorry to necro this. When you were quoted by all places you shopped at, were they for doing both the front clamshell and the rear 3rd? Thanks in advance...
