Yes unless I have the license. I stay away from that. I do plan on getting the license soon.

I was told if I go into a truck stop and I have the amp all the way up. I better not key up or I'll blow radios.

Am I the only one seeing a rather large, blue, phallic shaped object here?

Don't know what you could be referring to? That's clearly an outline of my power cables.

Can I ask a question guys? I have an HF radio in the form of an ICOM 706 MK II G. Just pulled it out of my Ford Ranger 2 weeks ago. Anybody done an HF antenna install in a new Tacoma with the composite bed? Grounding and bonding issues? The antenna in question is the HI Q 5/80.

    Thanks

It can be illegal to have an amateur band transceiver in your vechicle if you do not have proof of your FCC license, some police municipalities have attempted to ticket amateur operators with mobile installations for the reason they can listen in on police frequencies in their mobile.

My setup, could not be happier! The 400 looks cock-eyed in this pic, but it's straight from the drivers point of view.

Hey guys, taking the Tacoma on a family trip from Wisconsin to Wyoming and mentioned in passing, would be nice to have a CB radio. Probably wouldn't have really gotten one but for my birthday my wife ordered me a Uniden Pro XL 520. Now I feel obligated to get it installed. This is what I ordered and plan to put the antenna behind the sunroof. It seems. Radio will mount below the glove box right against the center console very nicely. I have an 8 foot overhead garage door truck is only around 6'5"" so I figured with the spring mount it should still flex and Drive-In to the garage, I have plenty of sealing room in the garage for that antenna. I am a little afraid to put the hole up on the roof and make a permanent mount for something I might use very little but I figured if it is in the truck, I can always use it so why not make it permanent! This is the stuff I ordered, any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. Screenshot_2017-07-29-07-47-19.jpg Screenshot_2017-07-29-07-46-19.jpg Thanks!

You could go with a magnet mount antenna like this:
    http://www.wilsonantenna.com/sp/wilson-little-wil-magnet-mount-cb-antenna-kit-carded/
run your cable inside the rear window or just through the door and let the door gasket seal around it. Lots of folks report very good use with these.

So after having the 3ft firestik on the hood, and getting pretty poor reception and an swr of 1:2, I am thinking of going back to my 5 foot wilson. I have the magnet base but really hated that. I am getting into HAM too, and am going to get my license in a couple weeks and am already looking at ham setups, but Id still like to have my cb. Does anyone think it would be a good idea if I got the roof mount and put it on top a bed rack, aluminum or steel. I want to get a bed rack anyway to hold my bikes, but was also thinking it would be a good place for antennas.
