no, it wasn't so hard... because I actually read this thread. but it's the same questions that have been posted 4-5 times... if there were more people that would read or search before just asking for a hand out there would be fewer pages to go through.... as for this not being pirate... you're right. if it was pirate I'd have told ya to GTFO rather than answering your questions... I'll know better next time

If you report the BS posts you will get a nice PM from one of the moderators. They will tell you that by reporting garbage posts you are more of a problem than the people whoring it up and that you'll be banned if you don't stop.

Haven't gone on any trips long enough to comment on mpg. It's definetly handles hills the way I expect it to now.

I have seen an increase of about 1 to 1.5 MPG over the last 2 days commuting to work and driving around town. This is on a mix of highway and surface streets in some traffic for a part of it. I have been driving only in D since I have a ShiftSense Pro controlling S mode. I have gotten used to how the SSP controls shifts so this is taking some time to get used to driving in D. There are definitely more shifts when in D vs when utilizing the SSP in S. On the highway, I prefer being in D since the truck will go into 6th (something the SSP shifts @ 72mph or higher for). On the highway, the shift from 6 to 5 to overtake and pass is a bit slow but OP did mention he would be speeding this up with a future update. Around town on the surface streets, i find the transmission still having to downshift 1 or 2 gears sometimes in order to get the engine into the power-band. The SSP was able to keep the gear selected that kept the engine in the power-band making it feel much more responsive. I plan to drive a tank or 2 in D and a couple more in S to see how the SSP effects overall MPGs and performance.

The ETC button shows the most significant change for me. Pressing this, my butt dyno is easily able to feel the extra power. I feel like i am getting pushed back into the seat more and not depressing the accelerator any further than normal. I can see myself using this when I am fully loaded and needing to accelerate swiftly onto a highway or road with higher limits.

I would agree that the truck handles hills much better now and will downshift from 6 to 5 when needed and has not yet needed to downshift a second gear to 4th as the stock tune did regularly. It feels more effortless for sure.

Here is the shift map for the SSP for reference:

I haven't seen any significant change in MPG. I still consider this a decrease in MPG since I was running 87 before and now I am running 93 for the tune. There is no cost/benefit to the tune or running higher octane other than the better throttle response and moderate power gains at this point. I am patiently awaiting an 87 specific tune so I can just buy cheap gas again.

As stated several times now, this is still just the alpha tune with no specific focus on economy. I have no doubt OV can tune to whatever you like, but more power = more dinosaurs.

@riz_atx Thanks for the feedback. It is good to know it seems to hold gears better. Did you have any problems with gear hunting when driving on the freeway and did it improving with the tune, especially with cruise control on? Thanks again for you report!

On the freeway, its not going down into 4th on inclines and headwinds like it did with the stock tune. It does shift from 6th to 5th and back though. The speed limits here in texas are 70+ on the hwy, fyi. Cruise control was something I was unable to use on the stock tune since it would constantly be shifting 2 gears to get any power up a hill. I dont have too much time in cruise control due to traffic, but the little I did use it, it showed that it would use 5th and 6th. I need more time in cruise control and once I have it, I will share more information.

I will note that the couple times I have used cruise control the mpg value it sat on was higher than the stock tune. I haven't used cc enough to know if it was all in my head, but it seemed like cruise control mpgs were significantly higher.

I've experienced this first hand, it's real. The computer does a better job of limiting throttle and torque management in cruise while in the closed loop.

If I drive 65mph home with my human foot, I get around 22mpg. 24mpg with CC on.

Edit: This is with my stock tune, not OV

I was referring to mpg from stock cc vs tuned cc. Does your cc flare up anymore?

Ah my mistake, I wouldn't know about the performance of the tune firsthand. I was commenting on my stock mpg in cruise. Still waiting for you guinea pigs to work out the kinks
