I rode today and didn't die!

assuming a bunch of you have already seen these videos but in the event yall have not...

check out the Epicly Later'd videos, they are really great and it is a real life look into the lives lived by so many people I grew up idolizing

I grew up on a skateboard in the streets, and will die with a skateboard ( though only mini ramps at that point with old brittle bones and shit)

nice to see a skate thread. I skated back in middle and high school and for several years after that. Wasn't very good lol, loved to drop in on big as overpasses, mini ramps and some stairs. Never really got the flip tricks, more shove its and straight ollies for distance. Was in a couple vids I the friends or wrecks sections. Since shattering one ankle and dislocating both attempting the "McCullum 11" my skateboard has been my trusty moving companion. Moved couches, fridges and other big things one person couldn't normally moved themselves lol
If I can find the vids ill link them. The one I broke my ankle was in a Beyond Waves vid (skate shop out of Santa Fe NM)

Last time I tried skating it didn't work out too well.... took my son and after rolling around ff for a bit I thought I would drop in on the 3-4 for mini ramp.... knocked the wind out of myself and my son was scrambling for my phone to call 911 lol. Once I could breath a little I calmed him down and assured him I would be ok.... but may have scared him

 

One of our buddies unfinished high school video projects that never got finished so it has some black spots where more footage would have been... keep in mind this was back in the late 90s on a high school budget lol. My overpass drop in is right after the credits @15:25

Trying to rally my buddy to skate tomorrow...
Had a session lined up Sunday but it conflicts with a wheeling trip out to Bartlett Lake for food, brews and swimming. Conflicting hobbies, LOL!

1992 Santa Cruz Roscopp "Cruz Missle" twin kick tail concave deck. Tracker trucks, POWELL bearings, and Bullit wheels.

This is how we built them back then. Big wheels in the front & smaller in the back. Like a "bro lean"

I can still ride it but my bag of tricks is pretty much empty at 43 years old.

 

Located these Hosoi "Rocket" wheels and deck while doing some garage organization.Both new and good to go!Had these both for i believe 10 + yr's.

But I'm probably still going to get it as long as it's not stupid expensive.
They are also doing some t-shirts and other shit tomorrow morning.

On another note, it's still too fucking hot to skate.
I need to get to one of the the indoor parks but have to organize it with some of the other locals because I hate going to a sesh filled with little kids by myself. Helps to have back up when the scooters get uppity.

 

You know they sell velcro at the store right?

 

Ha! A bit late on my reply (didn't get the notification) but my plan for this patch already involves adding velcro which I got a 10' roll of through Amazon.

Part of me though wishes I had a jean jacket to sew this to the back of, but I'm no where near cool enough to pull that hipster bullshit off. Maybe some day...

 

. You don't want to dress like a hipster but I do agree its a sweet idea.
